Sources: Sen. Specter intends to switch parties

WASHINGTON – Several officials say veteran Republican Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania intends to switch parties, advancing his own hopes of winning a new term next year while pushing Democrats one step closer to a 60-vote filibuster-resistant majority.
The sources said an announcement could come later in the day — or Wednesday. The officials who provided the information did so on condition of anonymity, saying they were not authorized to discuss his plans.
Specter is a 79-year-old veteran of five Senate terms, and one of only a handful of moderate Republicans left in Congress in a party made up largely of conservatives.

Yes, at least now there is one less republican that liberals can say supports their crappy bills when they claim they have bipartisan support. I think R will be better off without him. Makes me think of Olympia Snowe and John McCain.

Just more proof that the Dhimmicrats and Republicans are different camps of the same thing, bought and paid for criminal weasels that give lip service to serving America but are here for their own personal power and nothing else.
Support 3rd parties! We wouldn't have those criminal bastards if we'd simply organize and throw them all out! Support The Constitution Party, The American National Party or the Libertarian Party. All of those are far more conservative than the "Republican" party.

I think that a Clear Divide Between Republicans and Democrats should be Made... that way we don't elect a wolf in sheeps clothing i.e. Juan McCain, Spincter, or Doomberg!
We need to take over a party, not create a New One...
