Title: Who was praying for me?
Post by: Ze'ev on May 18, 2009, 04:50:59 PM
Somebody must have.

on a whim today when at the gas station for a coffee I bought a couple scratch offs.

I NEVER buy them.

Imagine my shock when I found myself  winning $10,000 on one of them!!!

I am so happy.  I am pretty poor and was in the process of looking for extra part-time work to supplement my income this summer...now I won't even have to!

Great, I grant you it. Use the money wisely and think before you spent it.  :)

I have no clue what I will do.

I am still in shock right now about it.

I will probably buy a few things for my family, and sit on the rest of it for any emergencies.

Great decision. :)

Remember you will have to pay taxes on it. I would assume around $3000 worth of taxes.

Umm, that would have been my prayer for you that was answered.  You may kindly forward my 10% prayer fee at your earliest convenience.

Just kidding, of course.  Congratulations on your winnings.

That is what I was going to say. Many people who play the lottery are financially irresponsible and spend the full 10000 when they win it, only to find out later that they owe the taxes.

Wish you all the best and remember full amount of taxes and a little amount of righteous charity.

I suggest you not waste this money, times are hard . Do something useful with your winnings....for example...

new rims for your car - 48 inch
hydraulics for your car
15,000 watt stereo system for your car and don't forget the generator or capacitor system for the excessive power
a modest gold chain... like the width of a drink bottle lid and about 3 feet long
3 kt diamond ear ring
lifetime supply of Malt Duck and Church's Chicken
more lotto scratch-offs
donate to the Obama campaign
get a new grill (for your teeth)
buy a good dependable and economic vehicle like a....
     Caprice Classic - 70's to early 80's
early to mid 90's Cadillac Coupe De'Ville
If your lucky enough to find one a "deuce-and-a-quarter" Buick Electra 225
All these cars get at least 5-10 miles to the quart (of oil), and at least 4-5 miles per gallon of gas

Any more ideas anyone?

Seriously congratulations.. I am glad someone from this community (jtf) won.

Thanks for the congratulations all.

I know about the tax thing, that really stinks too.

I have to go to the lottery commission center yet so I don't even have the $ yet but I think they tax it initially, so I won't be getting the full 10k but around 7-7.5k.

It would be interesting to see someone give all of their winnings from something to a tax exempt organization like VJA to show the government that they didn't receive a single cent from the winnings.
