The head of Mossad, Israel’s overseas intelligence service, has assured Benjamin Netanyahu, its prime minister, that Saudi Arabia would turn a blind eye to Israeli jets flying over the kingdom during any future raid on Iran’s nuclear sites.
Earlier this year Meir Dagan, Mossad’s director since 2002, held secret talks with Saudi officials to discuss the possibility.
The Israeli press has already carried unconfirmed reports that high-ranking officials, including Ehud Olmert, the former prime minister, held meetings with Saudi colleagues. The reports were denied by Saudi officials.
“The Saudis have tacitly agreed to the Israeli air force flying through their airspace on a mission which is supposed to be in the common interests of both Israel and Saudi Arabia,” a diplomatic source said last week.
Although the countries have no formal diplomatic relations, an Israeli defence source confirmed that Mossad maintained “working relations” with the Saudis.
John Bolton, the former US ambassador to the United Nations who recently visited the Gulf, said it was “entirely logical” for the Israelis to use Saudi airspace.
Bolton, who has talked to several Arab leaders, added: “None of them would say anything about it publicly but they would certainly acquiesce in an overflight if the Israelis didn’t trumpet it as a big success.”
Arab states would condemn a raid when they spoke at the UN but would be privately relieved to see the threat of an Iranian bomb removed, he said.
Referring to the Israeli attack on an alleged Syrian nuclear facility in 2007, Bolton added: “To this day, the Israelis haven’t admitted the specifics but there’s one less nuclear facility in Syria . . .”
Recent developments have underscored concerns among moderate Sunni Arab states about the stability of the repressive Shi’ite regime in Tehran and have increased fears that it may emerge as a belligerent nuclear power.
“The Saudis are very concerned about an Iranian nuclear bomb, even more than the Israelis,” said a former head of research in Israeli intelligence.
The Israeli air force has been training for a possible attack on Iran’s nuclear site at Natanz in the centre of the country and other locations for four years.

I'm not buying this.
This would and/or should be highly classified information and would not be privy to the media.

Biden was changing his tune on the subject today. Maybe we are being set up to accept an Israeli take out of the Iranian nuclear facilities.
-
Creating confusions may be a tactical part of warfare. However it can be better justified only if the facilities at Iran are really destroyed timely.

I believe you have a point here Secularbeliever. Look at TV and gays now, they are all over the place, hoping to "numb" us to it and make it more acceptable..........maybe they are doing this with Israel taking out Iran's nuclear weapons. This way, everyone knew it was coming, and those that did not speak out against it at the time, have no say in it later, and it's accepted by the whole world if Israel does this. The sooner the better I say! :israel: :fist:

Israel will likely do that which must be done. America is too cowardly to act.
But the question is: After the bombing, will the U.S. back Israel in war?

Saudis have every reason to fear Iran. If Ahamadineyad is a madman , besides a rasha, and plans to attack Israel, there are two posibilities, either that the West stay silent, or that some Western countries retaliate and there would be a world nuclear war which Saudis would also suffer. On the other hand, if Ahamadineyad is not a madman but only a rasha (one has to be a madman to attack Israel using a nuke, knowing that Iran will surely be destroyed), he will not attack Israel, but use his nuclear disuation to press on the world to allow him control the Islamic Sunii world, and Arabia would be his first target, not by the bomb but by international pressure. If Ahamadineyad is not a complete mentally sick, he will probably invade Arabia, as Hussein did in Kuwait, and press the world not to intervene.
And USA will probably stay silent if Israel destroys Iran nuclear plants. They won't side with Israel even if they wish an Israeli intervention. USA has no economic, diplomatic or military force to do that operation, so they probably wish Israel does it. USA would perhaps like to hypocritically condemn Israel in the UN, but I think that won't be possible since USA has to forsee a possible war with North Korea. It is easier for them to wage war in North Korea. So they leave the difficult task to Israel. Perhaps America would not care too much about what Muslims say of USA if they stay silent whilst Israel destroys the Iranian threat Muslims will surely blame the "American allies of Israel, but now with the economic crisis, USA might have learned that it is better for the States to protect their economic interests in East Asia threatened by NK, rather than apeassing Muslims.

I think Raulmarrio2000 hit the nail on the head.
Saudi Arabia hates Iran for their dominant influence throughout the Middle East. There is some definite racial tension here. Arabs being bullied around by Persians who are Shiites! You can be sure the Saudis are not happy.

Ahmadineyad would surely like to destroy Israel, but the question here is why is he openly calling for destruction whilst it would be easier for him to shut up and relieve the international pressure about his nuclear programme. Saudis may be thinking that he is using Hussein's strategy. (Threatening Israel to gain support from Muslim fundamentalists of every branch, to distract attention about his plans towards Arabs petrol). In the case of Iran, it would not be only petrol but also religious and political subejection of Suniis. Saudis are Jew-haters, but certainly not fools, they are not willing to commit suicide.
If Ahamadineyad has some brain, it is easy to see that he cannot attack Israel by conventional weapons and, if he uses a nuke, Iran would dissapear. However he can esasily dominate and even invade Saudi Arabia, and use the nuke to disuade the West to intervene. Then, once he gains controll of the Islamic world and Arab petrol, it would be esasier for him to attack Israel. Saudis are not such fools as to sacrifice themselves for the sake of Israeli destruction in a future that they will not even live to see.
Now, the interesting question is how would Muslims react if Israeli finally attacks Iran with Saudis' nod. It would be a difficult issue for them. 98% of Muslims are Sunnii, and won't like to side with Iran. If they condemn Israel, they would have to condemn Saudis also. They would be in the difficult situation of opposing both Iran and Saudis. In such conditions I doubt any Muslim State would be able to react. It would be foolish for Sunii States to enter in a war as a third party.

We had better back back her! :soldier:

It makes sense! Saudi's are Sunni muslims but Iranians are Shiaites. In Saudi Arabia Shiaites are persecuted and there is discrimination against them.
On Friday July 31, 1987, a demonstration by Iranian pilgrims against the "enemies of Islam" (including the U.S. and Israel), escalated to fights between demonstrators and Saudi security forces. The police opened fire against the demonstrators and that led to a stampede of the pilgrims. Saudi authorities reported 402 dead (275 Iranians, 85 Saudis including policemen, and 42 pilgrims from other countries) and 649 wounded (303 Iranians, 145 Saudis and 201 other nationals)
Immediately following the demonstrations, Iranian leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini called for Muslims to avenge the pilgrims' deaths by overthrowing the Saudi royal family. The Saudi government blamed the riot on the Iranian pilgrims and claimed that the Iranian pilgrim riot had been part of a plot to destabilize their rule.
When news of the riot and the casualties reached Iran the following day, mobs attacked the Kuwaiti and Saudi embassies in Tehran, the two countries that were allied with Iraq in its war against Iran. The following day, over a million Iranians gathered in Tehran calling for the overthrow of the regime in Saudi Arabia.
The sooner the better is for Israel. My only concern about Iran possessing Russian made anti aircraft missles batteries (S-300). Israel cannot afford to make an abortive attempt!!!

saudi king tells his subject obama to take out iran. they decide we'll let Israel do it and will exchange the right of Israel to knock out iran for Judea and Samaria. saudis get everything they want, and it costs them nothing.

Yes, I can see THIS happening.

Israel can perhaps do it with supersonic cruise missiles. :nuke:
