Saudi Cleric To Al-Zawahiri: Renounce Extremist Ideology

During an MBC TV program marking the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, senior Saudi cleric Salman Al-'Oda called on Al-Qaeda deputy leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri to reexamine his organization's ideology.

He said that there was a need for such reexamination because Al-Qaeda had caused the deaths of more Muslims than non-Muslims, and because its attacks in the West had been used for anti-Muslim incitement.

Al-Odah added that the fighting waged by Al-Qaeda attests to its desperation in the face of the West's ability to defend itself.

At first sight, this sounds good. But then go deeper into these statements and you see what he really thinks:
He doesn't care for the dead Jews, Christians, Hindus aór anyone else, just for the Muslims! Saying Al-Qaeda had killed more Muslims than non-Muslims could also mean to not kill so many Muslims (while killing non-Muslims is okay).
He only condemns attacks in the West because it causes hatred against Muslims. This is again a selfish argument... So reading between the lines, he is is only worried about al-Qaeda causing damage to Islam/Muslims.

And also note that he regards Al-Zawahiri as a legitimate Islamic sheik, not a terrorist or anything.

Yes, this is another point. See how careful you have to be with Muslims and what they say!  :o

Should his statement be treated as some type of veiled warning.
