It looks like a severe case of 'Monkey See - Monkey Do'.
This is not uncommon for primates in the west.

Orang Utangs come from south east Asia - mainly from Borneo and Sumatra. They are endangered due to rampart deforestation by the quranimals occupying Indonesia and Malaysia.
