NEW YORK – CNN host Lou Dobbs shocked his viewers Wednesday when he announced that he would be leaving the network effective immediately.
The longtime host of "Lou Dobbs Tonight" said on his show that it would be his last and that he was ready "to pursue new opportunities."
He said CNN had allowed him to be released from his contact, which was set for the end of 2011 and that he was considering a number of options.
"I will let you know when I set my course," he said.
The longest-running anchor on CNN's air, Dobbs was one of the nation's leading financial journalists before turning his program in a more opinionated direction. His persistent advocacy against illegal immigration angered many.
"I'm the last of the original anchors here on CNN and I'm proud to have had the privilege of helping to built the world's first news network."
CNN's average prime-time audience was third behind Fox and MSNBC during October, and it was even eclipsed by sister network HLN among younger viewers, according to the Nielsen Co.

I agree, but it's good he's leaving them in a professional way. It will help him find a better job.

I wonder what's next for him?
-
Obviously canned. The question is for what.

He went after the shvartza President hard for withholding his birth certificate information. He was one of the few people in the media that did not let up on that issue. I guess CNN did not agree with that position.

Now that the Battle filed lines have been drawn...
Fox vs. All other News Networks
fox would have to trade : Shep Smith in exchange for Lou

"and that he was ready "to pursue new opportunities."
Dobbs 2012?
He'd get my vote!
-
Maybe he can get a job on Fox News.. that would be a major boost for FOx, lot of the CNN junkies would would migrate.

CNN is becoming irrelevant. Their ratings are miserable; at all time lows.
The last month has been specials and exposes on 'Blacks in America' and 'Being Muslim in America'. They have become apologists for everything that Obama has done.

Fox will probably pick him up
-
No one even pays attention anymore to Crap Network News

Best move he could have made, whether he was forced to or not.
