I believe a person's attitude and genetic makeup affect his or her life.   A good attitude also helps one overcome negativity.   I also think people with values of allegiance to God, family, and country, are very important, the basic instincts that has survived within man for centuries.

I believe that some of these unhappy states are havens for neo nazis i.e West Virgina, Ohio and Tennessee while some are havens for racist angry aggressive moolies i.e Louisiana and Michigan.
