As long as it's just your computer that's infected ...
-
I thought you meant a major virus was attacking your body!
-
I hope your computer "gets well" soon.
You might want to consider using the Linux operating system. Viruses and spyware would be non-issues then.
-
Your computer needs to stop being so promiscuous. :P

For a great Linux operating system. http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php (http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php) ;D
but,
If your staying with windows, and it won't boot and is unusable, try going into windows safe mode and doing a system restore.
To get into safe mode hit the F8 key when the laptop is booting.
Pick Windows safe mode.
Then, when in the system restore window, pick a date before you got the virus.
Let it run through the restore process and reboot.
After the restore, install a good antivirus program like avast http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html (http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html) .
When it asks you if you'd like to run a boot scan, say YES.
Restart your computer.
Avast will run a scan of your computer before Windows boots, it will clean out all the viruses. It may ask you if you'd like to delete when it detects the first instance of a virus, pick "Yes to all!"
After it's done, you are good to go. 8)

Hey New Yorker,
What's the difference between this Linux Mint Helena and Ubuntu? Which do you prefer? Are there other good distros?

Hi Lisa,
Linux Mint Helena is based on Ubuntu, and does everything Ubuntu does, but in my opinion it's much better, they took Ubuntu and improved on it, with a far more user friendly interface, I really like it, it's easy to install, and it is very stable, I have it on my laptop, the installation auto-installed all the drivers with no issues, it is as user friendly as Windows and could be considered a excellent Windows replacement.
Nope, no other good distros that I know of, they all suck compared to Linux Mint, either they're a pain to install or they're incompatible with hardware, or their web browser is crap, etc, Linux Mint doesn't have those shortcomings.

Thanks New Yorker. I'll have to try it one of these days.

Yeah, try it out, have fun with it; I like tinkering and experimenting with my computers, also it's kinda fun knowing that you're not dependent on Microsoft if you don't want to be. You can tell Microsoft to take their ridiculously expensive software with their annoying "activation" and licensing and tell them to take a hike! ;D

I agree with you New Yorker. I currently use Ubuntu. Who needs the aggravation of Windows with their viruses, spyware and malware?

OMG I now have to write this message out again as I was about to hit reply and I lost connection. ::)
I'm not writing that long piece again. To make a long story short it's fixed. I'll be posting again. Thanks for the advice and concern.

Oh! Sorry to hear that. What exactly happened?
