We have all seen the brave and courageous Israeli soldiers sliding down the ropes (from the hovering helicopter) onto the ship. Then, as they land, they are immediately beaten with medal rods.
My question is this: Why were there no sharpshooters in the helicopter giving cover?
It seemed to me, from what I saw, that the attackers with the metal rods were free to beat these soldiers. Why were they not shot at immediately?

Perhaps a clear shot would be too difficult?
I also don't doubt that the IDF did not prepare realistically for this mission and did not take the threat seriously.

Perhaps. But they could definitely have shot at the others who had steel rods and were standing behind.
I also don't doubt that the IDF did not prepare realistically for this mission and did not take the threat seriously.
This is what saddens me also. In other words, did no one say: "Listen, the men who go down the ropes definitely need to be covered. They can't just be allowed to land on deck with no one ready to shoot any attacker who may be ready for them."
I mean, really -- did they think they were landing on a cruise line or something?
I hope and pray that they learn from this.

You know what is sad... I should not even say it... I don't know why I am going to anyway...
I think that the IDF was more prepared to smash skulls when they evicted the Gush Katif and Amona Jews... They came on horses, with batons, armor, and teargas grenades...
Why didn't they drop teargas grenades on board before boarding? At least they would not be attacked...

True! Sad, but true.
Why didn't they drop teargas grenades on board before boarding? At least they would not be attacked...
An even better idea than mine!
And less risky and lethal than mine, too.

How right you are, muman613!
And this point should be thrown in the faces of all those Jewish frauds who perpetrated that pogrom!
Each and every one of them who cooked up that evil plot must be held accountable and made to answer for their heinous crimes against the Jewish people.
Some most certainly deserve death.
The least of them should be excommunicated and exiled for life.
