Rabban Gamliel the son of Rabbi Judah HaNassi would say: Beautiful is the study of Torah with the way of the world, for the toil of them both causes sin to be forgotten. Ultimately, all Torah study that is not accompanied with work is destined to cease and to cause sin.

Those who work for the community should do so for the sake of Heaven; for then merit of their ancestors shall aid them, and their righteousness shall endure forever. And you, [says G-d,] I shall credit you with great reward as if you have achieved it.

Be careful with the government, for they befriend a person only for their own needs. They appear to be friends when it is beneficial to them, but they do not stand by a person at the time of his distress.

He would also say: Make that His will should be your will, so that He should make your will to be as His will. Nullify your will before His will, so that He should nullify the will of others before your will.
- Pirkie Avot 2:2-4

Thank you. I knew that UK and America had blocked and fired Jewish refugee ships during the Holocaust, never had realised that obviously Churchill was also the PM at that time. In fact, it's clear that it was not just Germany alone who did the Shoah. And unfortunately, most world leaders of today would behave the same way.

Actually, I remember reading that Churchill was FAR more anti-nazi and anti-commie than Roosevelt, and Churchill had urged Roosevelt for millitary action against the nazi's far earlier, and without the need of delayed Russian Cooperation.  But Roosevelt held all the cards, and wanted it done HIS way.  There was a documentary about this.  Very interesting stuff about the anger that Churchill had for Roosevelt for his dragging his feet, and his insistance to have the Russian 'cooperation' which moved back D-day at least half a year.

Also, Churchill understood Islam FAR better than most other leaders.  He was one of the first to draw comparisons with Mein Kampf and the Koran.  smart guy.

But that doesnt exuse his action on Israel, etc.  No question he, like all leaders, was a traitor there.

Probably historical revisionism, and what does that have to do with the fact he refused to bomb the railways to the death camps and save hunderds of thousands of Jews if not millions "on the way"?

For the record, here, in a letter addressed to André Morellet in 1779, is what Benjamin Franklin actually did say:

Behold the rain which descends from heaven upon our vineyards, there it enters the roots of the vines, to be changed into wine, a constant proof that G-d loves us, and loves to see us happy

"I am convinced in my heart and in my mind that if the United States fails to stand with Israel, that is the end of the United States . . . [W]e have to show that we are inextricably entwined, that as a nation we have been blessed because of our relationship with Israel, and if we reject Israel, then there is a curse that comes into play. And my husband and I are both Christians, and we believe very strongly the verse from Genesis [Genesis 12:3], we believe very strongly that nations also receive blessings as they bless Israel. It is a strong and beautiful principle". --    Rep.  Michele Bachmann  ( February,  2010 )

I am done here. I will start a topic when I find the time (soon) to say what I think about your behaviour and how it badly hurts the movement you are supposed to serve.

David Bowie is a Nazi

The thread opening post said good or evil people. It's the quote not the person. Anyway I didn't know that. So why is he a Nazi?

Ron, you contribute so much to our Hebrew forum. You are doing important things in Israel which I cannot even mention because our enemies would undermine us if I elaborated on all of your blessed activities. You are a true Jewish hero.

But on this thread, your confrontation with our wonderful members is very harmful to our English-speaking movement. There is no excuse for personal attacks and insults. I am asking you not to make personal attacks upon our members under any circumstances.

I apologize to Bullcat and yaakov mendel.

And David said to the Philistine, "You come to me with spear and javelin, and I come to you with the Name of the Lord of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel which you have taunted. This day, the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I shall slay you, and take off your head, and I shall give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines this day, to the fowl of the air and to the beasts of the earth, and all the earth shall know that Israel has a God.And all this assembly shall know that not with sword and javelin does the Lord save, for the battle is the Lord's, and He will deliver you into our hand." - Shmuel I - Chapter 17
