For my congressional representative I have a choice between the Republican John L. Mica and the Democrat Heather Beaven. I was going to vote for John L. Mica, but I'm not thrilled with what he posted about Israel. Can some of you read this link and let me know if I should vote for him, leave it blank or vote for the democrat?

The second item I'm not sure about is whether to vote for a sales tax increase to fund public schools. At first thought I would say no, the schools do not deserve my money. The flip side is that this is a consumption tax and I would prefer that they raise the sales tax as opposed to some other tax to cover expenses. Any advice on this one?

I have seen worse stands taken... Lets put it this way he supports Israel but he is not going to go out on a limb to do it...Unless the democrat is far better on the issues this Mica seems ok. As far as the school tax vote that cr-p down... There is not enough money in the world for them to feather their beds with... Schools need to be kept on a tight budget... Here on Long Island the school property tax has tripled in the last 20 years.

On Heather Beaven's website, I don't see anything about Israel.

On the following site though, Heather Beaven expressed that she supports a ' two state ' solution'. This in addition to some other far less than stellar positions:

Unfortunately, this doesn't shape up as the type of race where there's a good option or anything close.
