NH Father Gets Ticket For Taking Pregnant Wife To Hospital

Just lovely. A typical entitlement-minded suburban housecow demands that her husband drive like a demon out of Gehenom to the hospital because she is going into labor, and, without any second thought, our well-groomed toady boy blithely obliges. After getting caught going 102 mph in a 55 zone, this lovely couple (that was not experiencing a crisis birth or medical emergency of any sort) has the audacity to fight this thing and declare themselves innocent and the patrolman who was just doing this job the bad guy.

If this highly evolved specimen had caused a massive accident and killed his wife and son (not to mention any number of innocent bystanders), what would he do? Sue the state?

Think about it. We're all supposed to have sympathy for this happy family because they got ticketed innocently driving to the hospital, but what a crock of BS that is. In my opinion they were really treated with kid gloves. I guarantee you that a state trooper wouldn't have been so polite with a sixteen-year old boy going 100 in a 50 zone because he was late to a date, or even someone speeding because they were late to work.

Both the husband and wife should lose their licenses for a good four or five years for this stunt, and possibly face some jail time too (the man for putting everybody on the highway at such a grave risk of death or mutilation, and the selfish cow for putting him up to such a thing).

Couple In labor receives speeding ticket

LONDONDERRY, N.H. (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston) -  A New Hampshire man says he's going to fight a speeding ticket he received after rushing his wife to the hospital when she was in labor.

State Police say John Coughlin hit a speed of 102 mph on Interstate 293 on Sept. 18 as he rushed to Catholic Medical Center in Manchester with his wife Angela. Coughlin is due in court Thursday.

The Coughlins called 911 after a trooper tried to stop them and said the baby was about to be born. The trooper turned the pursuit into an escort to the hospital.

Baby Kyle was born six minutes after the Coughlins reached the hospital.

John Coughlin says the trooper congratulated him on the birth of his son and then gave him a ticket.

I fight speeding tickets all the time... I don't blame them...

{I have actually won several times I have challenged tickets}

My advice is to get a lawyer for this kind of case...

You don't think 100 in a 50 zone is kind of bad? Also, what do you mean "all the time"? If you are getting ticketed constantly, maybe it's a sign to change unsafe driving habits? In southern California, traffic enforcement is quite lax to begin with (I don't know about NorCal but since it's just as liberal, I don't imagine it being much different).

Well, certainly... In a 50 zone... All of my tickets have been on the Freeway, never on side streets..
.

I have an excellent driving safety record. I put on 30000 miles a year, for over seven years, and have only had one accident... I have only had two accidents in almost 30 years of driving...

This man could have killed himself, his whole family, and any number of completely innocent motorists. He needs a serious wakeup call, and his petulant wife too for that matter.

Yes, I agree that he should have been more concerned with the safety of his wife and child... I do not drive like that with passengers, only back and forth to work each day...

You speed by 50mph every day? How are you still alive? It's hard to see that as even being possible on any CA freeway outside of the eastern deserts.

One cop made a good point about this ticket.  "If your wife is in labor, call 911 instead of driving 100 mph and endanger everyone else.  Let the ambulance do the speeding."

I think the cop was justified in giving a citation, and it should go to court and the judge should half the fine, but not give the husband points on his license.

Muman I suggest carpooling and using an HOV lane to save time or leaving for work earlier

I think both parents need to be taught a lesson. Think of how a teenage driver would be treated by the system in a situation like this for speeding to a date or to a hangout with his friends, which in his mind would be "as important" as labor. He probably would have a half-dozen cops tenderly restraining his neck on the asphalt with their boots for pulling this kind of a stunt, before being unceremoniously thrown in the back of a squad car going straight to juvie for "reckless endangerment".

The difference is that this is worse than a teenager doing this, since as mature adults they are supposed to know better.

RS,

If I leave any earlier it will take longer to get to work. As it is I leave at 9:30-10:00AM so I miss the traffic congestion.. But if I leave 30 min earlier it will take almost an extra hour to get into work... I currently drive 140 miles a day {70miles each way}. I wish I didn't have to drive so much but I like where I live, I do not want to move down to the San Jose area {too much congestion and pollution compared to the North Bay area}. I currently feel like a slave to my car and job though...

I would hate living like a slave. If it were me I would do something to change the situation. In this situation I'd take a tiny apartment closer to work, even if it was not that much cheaper, over this kind of commute. In the longer term I'd see what I could to to switch jobs.

Here if you drive 30 mph over the speed limit, it's felony wreckless driving, they throw you on the ground with guns raised.

'wreckless' driving.... Is that driving without the wreck?

Im just joking, I know you meant reckless driving.... And thank Hashem I do not live there... I might not be alive to tell my tales..

PS: It appears I stand corrected.. Either 'wreckless' is a common misspelling of reckless, or it means 'without causing or suffering a wreck'...

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/wreckless

But I believe that when it is a traffic issue they refer to it as 'reckless' driving.

I'm no doctor but its likely that she will sit there and wait hours. So really, there is no rush.
