Title: George W. Bush honors 1948 War Hero Charles Winters.
Post by: danny100 on February 12, 2011, 12:03:54 AM
Charles Winters, an American Businessman who broke the Anti-Israel "Law" to give 3 B-17 Heavy Bombers to Israel which played a major role in Israel's ability to turn the tide against the Arabs who lost their air power later in the war. George.W.Bush granted a posthumous pardon to him. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/7799170.stm
He also said "We should've bombed them", referring to the rail lines leading to Auschwitz when speaking at the Yad Vashem Museum.

The B17 was a very strong bomber back then... Although it was rapidly becoming obsolete it still could be very useful to a country like Israel fighting a local conflict... We talked about Winters before here on the forum and I believe someone also asked Chaim about him on an Ask JTF... It's nice from time to time seeing  presidential pardons used to correct the record for good people like Charles Winters.
