More demented evil. A nation without any moral codes in international waters?! I hope all evil people move to those peoples and we can watch them sink and let the sharks eat them.

Pay Pal founder and early Facebook investor Peter Thiel has given $1.25 million to an initiative to create floating libertarian countries in international waters, according to a profile of the billionaire in Details magazine.
Thiel has been a big backer of the Seasteading Institute, which seeks to build sovereign nations on oil rig-like platforms to occupy waters beyond the reach of law-of-the-sea treaties. The idea is for these countries to start from scratch--free from the laws, regulations, and moral codes of any existing place. Details says the experiment would be "a kind of floating petri dish for implementing policies that libertarians, stymied by indifference at the voting booths, have been unable to advance: no welfare, looser building codes, no minimum wage, and few restrictions on weapons."
"There are quite a lot of people who think it's not possible," Thiel said at a Seasteading Institute Conference in 2009, according to Details. (His first donation was in 2008, for $500,000.) "That's a good thing. We don't need to really worry about those people very much, because since they don't think it's possible they won't take us very seriously. And they will not actually try to stop us until it's too late."
The Seasteading Institute's Patri Friedman says the group plans to launch an office park off the San Francisco coast next year, with the first full-time settlements following seven years later.
Thiel made news earlier this year for putting a portion of his $1.5 billion fortune into an initiative to encourage entrepreneurs to skip college.
Another Silicon Valley titan, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, announced in June that he would be funding the "Clock of the Long Now." The clock is designed to keep ticking for 10,000 years, and will be built in a mountain in west Texas.

Well, uhh, OK.
I have to say I actually really like this idea and would neither condemn it as evil nor wish shark bait upon them. First I notice it is coming from the libertarians, that term has to be distinguished from Liberal, a term hijacked by the left. You'll notice in the quoted article they would have looser restrictions on weapons in keeping with right wing second amendment principles. Also to abolish welfare aka leftist socialism.
An island isolated in the sea poses no threat to its landlocked neighbours and has very little realistic chance of doing so. In other words if a nation isn't invading Israel or other countries or making a nuisance of itself in other ways, leave em to it. They can do what the heck they like.
Could end up being an incredibly interesting social experiment.
I'll tell you one outcome from the start though, Islands that allow muslims to come onto them will fail, period. A watching world may see this and finally get that point into their thick skulls.

My understanding if this island will be no rule of law. Drug use will be allowed. Immoral sex will be allowed. Gambling will be allowed. prostitution will be allowed. All these things will lead to chaos and empty lives with empty values.
That's the problem with libertarianism.

I love the idea of a libertarian law, as long as its libertarianism with a small 'L' that does not allow narcotics, accepts that an unborn has as much of a right to live (if not more) than anyone else, and that does have laws against exploiting children.
I am all for it if this is the case.
Libertarians with a big 'L' are wackos that have evil agendas. They support everything iincluding the most evil activities in the name of 'Liberty'

How many people know about the "L" vs "l"? I think most are for"L".

This is not what a libertarian believes. You are describing an anarchist.

Well,
I will point out to the honourable members that "moral" in western civilisation now means something a little different from what you might call "moral."
It is the "moral" and "compassionate" thing to do nowadays, to give serial killers shorter sentences to allow them probation et al for example.
It is "moral" to keep your mouth shut about Islam and truth about black criminal activity because a "moral" person respects all religions and people who criticise islam are nasty evil bigots.
The "moral" code of socialism and political correctness in other words. A code I for one could do without.
I can only speak for the Libertarian movement in the U.K, the American version might mean something different. I know that they are predominantly right wing, they favor free trade and a very small government. I also know they do want harsh punishments for what a sane person would consider actual crime.
Their philosophy can be summed up as follows.
"We would like to be left alone" (no government interference)
"we would like other people to be left alone" They are not going to permit rape and sexual harassment and a host of other nasties"
Such Islands are not options for Jews of course, who have to live in Israel. But for Gentiles who have had enough of their countries. Hmmm

This is absolutely not true. I have met several Libertarians and not one of them has been a big "L".
Look at what Peter Theil says:
a kind of floating petri dish for implementing policies that libertarians, stymied by indifference at the voting booths, have been unable to advance: no welfare, looser building codes, no minimum wage, and few restrictions on weapons."
All of this sounds right wing, not left wing.
If Peter sets up as a little 'L' island (Which I think he will based upon everything he has said) I think it will be an incredible opportunity for entrepreneurship.

Let me guess
These would be islands full of what would be considered illegal migrants in the USA.

Not sure what you mean by that. If there is a market for a migrant's labor, skill or product on this island and he can earn a living and be a productive citizen, knowing full well that there won't be any free health care, welfare checks, food stamps, low income housing, etc. to subsidize him and his family, what is the problem?

These billionaires should stop being such idiots trying to build floating islands out in the ocean.
