You listen to women?

I can't say I ever particularly liked any women singers...

But I know there are many talented ones...

The women singers I name below nobody here would remember:

Barbara, she's got a sweet voice and I used to have a 'big' crush on her.

I think Barbara is Jewish. Are any of them pro-Israel?

Barbra Streisand is the ultimate in self-hating, anti-Semitic kapo hags. Chaim an encounter with her once in which she said HaRav (ztl) was "terrible" and "radical". So what if she's talented. Many talented people are evil--actually just about every person on your list is.

Where is Paula Abdul on your list, Mo?

Sorry if I hurt a nerve there.

You seemed upset that I asked if any of them was pro-Israel and that I left out Paula Abdul. Are you a fan of hers?

You're reading too much into my response. Maybe you do have a lot in common with Tempe!  :P

Anyhow I don't think any of these people are pro-Israel, Mo. I do particularly hate Streisand because she is so obnoxiously leftist but there's no denying she has talent. As for Abdul, I don't think she is righteous either but I only suggested her because she was huge in the early '90s and was one of my favorites as a kid. She's also a major looker, even today. Abdul is also Jewish (she is a Syrian Jew).

Wait, aren't religious Jews not allowed to hear women singing?  Or does that mean they can't watch videos of singing women, or see them live singing?  I'm confused.

You are right. Men aren't supposed to.

I have looked into this and what I believe that most agree that seeing a woman singing live is prohibited {at least amongst Orthodox, and especially Chasidim and Haredi}. But there are varying opinions as to whether listening to recorded female singing is prohibited. Those who are strict will prohibit themselves form listening to recorded women singing.

I don't keep by that strict interpretation but I seldom listen to women anyway so I don't have an issue, and I have never seen women solo singers except for when I was a kid...
