Title: Fundraising Idea!
Post by: Ari on June 20, 2007, 10:28:06 PM
I had an idea to create a list in the JTF forum for members who would commit to giving a said amount of money, say 20 or 50 dollars, for the right to attend a JTF fundraiser, say at a healthy Kosher restaurant, a Temple, etc., in the New York City/Long Island area.  If enough people agreed to show up and pay for the right to attend, I'm sure Chaim would agree to come and have a talk with us, and finally get to meet some of the great forum members.  Of course, the main idea is to raise money for the cause, which unfortunately as Chaim mentioned in the last "Ask JTF" broadcast continues to be a  difficult and slow process.  So, let's create a list and when it gets big enough I will look into setting up something definite (booking a place and date).  I think this could really add up, and we could do it every once in a while if it's successful.  Think of it, say we just had 20 people who gave 50 bucks, that's already 1 grand.  100 people and we're up to 5,000.  Let's get going.  Hope all JTF supporters are doing well and keep up the great work in the forum.

Sounds like a good idea...but bear in mind..don't be disappointed if chaim can't make it.

On the other hand, even if he couldn't make it, it would be a nice thing to do to gather a good number of people to get together and donate the proceedings to VJA or JTF.

I think that if Chaim commits to come, it will be a real hit.

Don't forget of security measures. A mere restaurant may not be enough.

You will need security guards.

Maybe some forum members are suitable. I know of at least one forum member who is in LE.

For security I know a Jewish former Air Marshall who would be willing to act as a bodyguard

If there is trouble from leftists, schwatzas or sand apes  more's the better. Have a camera there and plaster the media with "people attacked while raising funds for a jewish charity". You only need two liscenced security people with pistols for lethal threats and the rest of you with "sporting equipment" for non-lethal threats.

Their emergency number is 718 871 6666.

Thing is though, it only takes a min to shoot someone.

You will need to screen every guest.

You can rent or buy a metal detector and you will need to hire security guards. You should also notify the NYPD so they can put a patrol car outside.

Best to hold the event in a precinct where a cop of sergeant or higher is known to sympathise with our cause.....I bet Chaim knows a few.

Or you can charge at the door.

PayPal deducts a fee.

Yes, but you can never know how many people will come, unless they pay in advance.

Sounds fair.

So first someone should call Chaim and speak to him about it.

Great idea guys!
I will attend if we go forward with this... Count me in!
Let's give this a try, we have a right to come out of the shadows and not be afraid to speak the truth.
A fund raiser for JTF and VJA is a legitimate and righteous cause, I cannot imagine anyone will object to this.
Chaim I'm sure would make time for something so important as this.

We need to find a kosher restaurant or a Jewish Center in Boro Park and go from there.

I think once a satisfactory list is compiled, people can be given the option of paying for the tickets in advance.  Then the location can be emailed directly to the person without posting it in the forum, once payment is received (perhaps as a security measure, though while I agree we should take some precautions, we shouldn't be intimidated by anyone).  Once enough people agree to contribute I would think finding a location in the NYC area would be the easy part.  Hope something can get done during the summer.  Be well.

I agree Ari.
Now let's see how many people will be willing to attend.

Then why won't we make a poll and ask people?
