Yachov, was that your attempt at making me look bad? I didn't ONCE say UMMM HMM in the video. I had a lot more class in my video than you did bringing this thread to the forefront.

Don't call him a honkey...he's not that. Ill-informed and petty, maybe.

Kananga says You're a good sort. I didn't get a good look on your old videos 'coz you stand too close to the camera.

Thank you to Kananga... but I did the close-ups on purpose. It wasn't about you seeing me and being able to see what I looked like but more about what I was saying.

Rufus and Chaka are one of my favorite music groups. I think my mom played their music when she was pregnant with me. As well as other groups which I'll feature in my next 'music' video. Thanks for the compliment. :)

Oh what?....Sinead O'connor shaved her head for the same reason. Don't do that for heaven's sake.

The only shaved head I'm in is my husband's. LOL Don't worry, I won't be trying any of that. :D

I have another vid coming out soon but I'm going to have to edit a clip out so that it won't be too big to post on Youtube. Its still dealing with braids and African American hair but I have a demo in the video also. It will be my first 'movie' so when you see it, be kind. :)
-
Oh, yeah and Yachov, did you change the title a little bit? "Affirmative Action Hair"? What is that supposed to mean? What is Affirmative Action Hair? And why do you keep referring to me as "Affirmative Action?"
-
Kananga says You're a good sort. I didn't get a good look on your old videos 'coz you stand too close to the camera.
Kananga is a black convert to Judaism.
Then tell him not to lust after the shikksas. Samson lost his eyes for that. ;)

Why do black men always shave their heads?
So you've never seen a white person with no hair? Great.
My husband shaves his head because he's a Marine and its easier to groom and take care of. Is that a good enough reason for you? Some black men shave their heads because they WANT IT THAT WAY. Why don't you tell me why some white (forgot to add "white") guys are worried about losing their hair; investing money in hair plugs because they think younger white women are 'into that' or into white men with full heads of hair. ?

Do you agree that some blacks do say UMM HMM? It's mostly black women that do it.
I never said they DON'T... I say it when agreement with someone...I've heard white people say it also. But the way you say it, its like its bad, horrible and disgusting. Why don't you stop being so imature. Ummm-Hmmm is no different than saying mmmm...when food tastes good, or when an aroma is pleasent. Why do you and Chaim and others make fun of that anyway?
ETA: I also made mention that I DIDN'T say UMMM-HMMM in my videos... Not in the first one, and not in the one YOU viewed. Why must you make fun of everything?

Why are you calling him my friend? I never claimed him as a friend. A friend wouldn't speak as he does. He's no more Christian than the devil is. And the Devil is a liar. If he's ballzy enough to call me out of my name along with a few others, I wouldn't put it past him to post something innapropriate here.

OOps... I'm sorry for adding an 'h' where there is none, Yacov. However, I don't see many of you correcting each other on your many spelling and grammatical errors. And I've seen many. I've commented on one though.

Imerica,
How is it you're so much more articulate when you write, as opposed to when you talk?
No offense.

You seem rather moody, Imerica.... ;D
And i agree with lubab on his point and i'll tell you why, you write very well Imerica and use different styles of sentence structures, such as short and complex. Therefore character is initially added to your writing and when one reads it, fluently, it sounds articulative and expressive. However when you yourself speak, you stress on the words and read fairly slowly, so it doesn't sound so fluent and i'm guessing not so articulate. Speed yet clear speech is the sound related to articulate speaking. Many leaders who are very articulate, speak at a steady pace, without pauses, yet what they are saying may not be very flamboyant in terms of vocabulary. Its just the way they come over.
Before, you take any of this into offense, IT IS NOT! :) Everybody speaks differently depending on their tongue and character......

If I seem moody, its because I am. Having someone bash my video speaking as though its "Ghetto trash" or something by Yacov's interpretation from the title of this thread. Also lubab also makes it seem as if I'm stupid because my verbal speech isn't as clear and on point as my writing may be. I pride myself on being able to express myself well-enough (verbally) that no one I've ever come in contact with has ever come away with "Man, she's unintelligent". But I must admit that my writing is a lot better than the tonality of my speech. I've been writing longer than I've been verbally speaking... but I'm no dummy, not by a long shot. I'd also like to say that I don't write what I post on my videos, I'm not reading, I'm thinking of the words to say. Its LIVE, right? I have mental pauses (brain farts) sometimes when it comes to being verbal, like most humans do. But when I'm writing, I'm unstoppable. I don't know what makes me like that.
With that said, I still think what Yacov says about the Ummm-hmmm crap is very insulting especially since I'm not speaking that way on my videos.

Ummm-hmmm means attitude now? Wow.

Well when i say it, it certainly does!
Its because i am picturing a large black woman, holding a rolling pin, with hand on hips swaying them from side to side, saying it.
Yacov was asking a question! You assumed he was insulting you.....
-

He asked me why ALL black men shave their heads. It was an insult because of the tone of the post as if he's angry with black men (those who do shave their heads) for doing it. I mean, newman had just mentioned Sinead O'Connor and her bout with the clippers, why wasn't Yacov's question directed at ANYONE who would shave their heads?
Oh and the other question. Yacov and you are acting as if I denied ever saying it or hearing any other woman say it. I've even heard white people say it. The connotation of the word from Yacov and now you is that black women ONLY say it when they're angry. I say it when I agree with someone, instead of saying just 'yes'... in the same way you'd say 'mmmmm' when you have tasted something that's pleasing to your palate instead of just saying "WOW, This is Delicious". Why does the signifier have to be ONLY negative? And better yet, why did he post it as though people here were going to view the video to see if I'd say it?
I'm not a large black woman but I'm bigger than I once was years ago.
My point is that not everything some black people do should be used as the discriptor "Look how inferior and dumb you are?" I'm sure in the UK you have sayings that are slang terms that we, in the US don't understand. For instance, I recently (about 2 years ago) found out that a 'fag' in the UK is a cigarrette...whereas in the US, a 'fag' is the derrogatory word for homosexual.
-
If you actually read Yacov's style and tone of writing you would understand that he wasn't saying it out of anger at all! Just simply saying it. A lot of black men do shave their heads and he was asking why?
This is the Affirmative action board and so Yacov was referring to affirmitive action Blacks...since a lot are. It would be rather odd to ask, why white women usually shave their heads? In reference to sinead O'Conner.
That maybe when YOU say it however it is generally used as an expression almost meaning, yeah sure or as a sign of anger.........................IMERICA i'm not even going to say anymore because you will find "invisible" suggestions to what i have said.
I did even SAY you were large or refer to your weight! I was thinking of the mama in tom and jerry, if you must know and ummm-hmm is an expression it doesn't have to be dumb!!!

LEt me answer the questions to Yacov's liking then...
Black men (who do) shave their heads because they're not afraid to be bald. Its not a 'gang' thing...its a comfort thing.
The umm-hmmm reference..yes black women do say it. I never said they didn't but its not negative, not even when they're angry. UMMM HMMM simply means "yes, I agree" or if a question is asked "Yes". Even if a black woman is angry she only says it if a situation that angers her isn't fair. (ETA: After being asked about the situation, that is.) We never say it out of context like its being presented here and on the JTF videos. I never say UMMMM HMM for no apparent reason. Its not the first thing black women say when they wake up "Ummm hmmm...the sun is shining." There has to be a reason for it to be said.
THATS why I take offense to the way Yacov opened this thread up. I didn't speak that way in the video especially since most of you here think that UMM HMMM is a deficient way of speaking or makes black women look dumb, I'm definately not that.
And the large reference, of course you didn't refer to me however you referred to no one in particular other than in the post I just quoted. So I took it the way I saw it, since I do say the word and I am a bit bigger than I was in my youth. :)
-
I've been writing longer than I've been verbally speaking...
Really? That's interesting. How so? I don't think I've met anyone before who wrote before they spoke.

That's not to say that I couldnt' talk ( I spoke my first words and sentences at 2) but what I'm saying is that I wasn't allowed to speak my mind as a child. Whatever I said wasn't important according to the my mom and her ex. So I turned to writing. I actually wrote a lot more than I spoke, is what I meant.

Dark skinned women, like myself, when our skin is dry get ashy-looking skin. That's where it comes from. Its visually ashy-looking, that's what she meant.

Why do you think Oprah is building schools in Africa and not for the impoverished black communities in America? I can't understand that.

Why do you think Oprah is building schools in Africa and not for the impoverished black communities in America? I can't understand that.
Oprah thinks like some of you here. That black students here don't want education, that all they want are Ipods and X Box 360's. She said she built a school in Africa for girls who didn't have a chance to go to school there. The monthly income there was so low that many girls had to stop going to school to help out and work for money and food. They want an education, it seems, more than some black American kids do. I'm 50% with Oprah's idea and 50% against it. I'm with it because she did something to help an impoverished (spellchecking myself) country. Against it because she seems to generalize about American black kids, much like some people here do. In order for the black kids in our own country to feel like they deserve a good education, we must provide them with the tools to want to make it. I'm not talking about a handout of computer games but a hand up with new books. Perhaps a new school that isn't rotting from the inside out. How about GOOD teachers instead of teachers who look down on black students as if they have no hope...so they don't teach.
If I had Oprah's money, I'd be dangerous. (Don't get that mixed up with frivolous. ;) )

LOL - I would be dangerous if I had her money too - my causes would be the elderly, our Veterans and JTF of course.
I disagree with Oprah - I think her money channeled into the right causes would be of great benefit to many black children in America. I had heard that was her reasoning but I didn't think that could be true. It seems almost prejudiced.
Anyway - It is Oprah's money so she can do what she likes with it - that's the beauty of America.
I admire Montel Williams who is trying to help American people get the prescription medication that they can't afford.

Imerica. The schools that are now 'rotting' were once nice and new. They are rotting because savage people are turning them into zoos. What is the point in paying for new schools and books that will only get trashed. The problem with black kids is a 'rotting' culture.....rap, gangsta mentallity, 'get whitey','I aint workin for the man', drugs, bastard babies, welfare, promiscuity........the list is endless. The will to get out from under has to come from within like it does with Jews, chinese, italians etc....all of whom started poor and were called names but didn't sit around in the ghetto crying about it.

Actually schools in urban communities were built poorly. The students, while some may be responsible for their own failures and drop-out rates, don't cause asbestos. Students are also not the reason that new books and supplies aren't available for them. Not to mention the fact that they ALSO aren't the reason that some teachers don't teach. Anyone can be taught, you just have to have their best interest at heart. If you're a teacher just working for a paycheck, you're useless.
-
In my school the teachers are very close with the pupils and seriously care for them, yet the school itself is almost crumbling.
The school down the road, which is full of students with knives and shvartzas constantly fight has the best faciilities you could ever imagine, with the goverment pouring in loads of money into it. It just goes down hill every day.

Imerica - I'm not sure that asbestos and old text books are the problem in urban communities - lack of parental involvement might be a big factor!
Also what really good teacher wants to make a career in a bad area? Asbestos abatement was just completed in our school district - and we are considered to have a good school district.

UMM HMM to me is what blacks say when they are making a point. They say it at the end of the sentence.
JTF says it though when referring to blacks because it's funny.
Actually its not meant to be funny at all. Its a shortcut- yes. It means, simply (I agree).
-
Why do you think Oprah is building schools in Africa and not for the impoverished black communities in America? I can't understand that.
It is called a fabulous tax break and too a means to exploit the African loving media. In a way I think it is good that she is doing this. I think that all blacks with means should be doing likewise the way Jews send money to Israel. I just disagree with her ulterior motives behind it. I feel that the West should cut off ALL "Foreign Aid"...period. Actually, it would be good for Oprah to use her billions and develop Africa in preparation for her relocation.....

UMM HMM to me is what blacks say when they are making a point. They say it at the end of the sentence.
JTF says it though when referring to blacks because it's funny.
Actually its not meant to be funny at all. Its a shortcut- yes. It means, simply (I agree).
Imerica,
I happen to like 'mmmm hmmmm'. You should to. Sometimes I suspect that you're a self-hating [censored]. All that " tote dat barge- lift dat bale, yassa, yassa, yassa, hush my mouth, oh de doo-dah-day,mmmm hmmmm" 'mammy' talk is part of your rich african-American history and culture even if it does come from a time when you guys didn't have it so good.It should make you feel warm and nostalgic, not angry....... Just as Jews feel a warmth for their yiddish shtetl culture as seen in Fiddler on the Roof even though it is synonomous with oppression. You've got to admit that the old negro culture of the Black & white minstrel show is 1000 times better than the self-destructive afro-American gagsta-rap-drug-drive by culture so prevalent today.

And as a response for the old negro culture vs gangsta rap culture they are both equally disturbing to me. Old negro culture as seen in minstral shows is disturbing because it showed how desperate blacks back in the day were to make money to eat that they'd make fun of themselves as well as embellish on myths that never happen in the black culture then. The black cartoons, the whites in black-face shows.. I remember watching a classic movie with Judy Garland where she had dressed up like a light-skinned black girl, shuffeling around on stage with (correction may be needed) Fred Estaire. I saw this movie for the first time about 3 years ago and felt as though Judy was poking fun at black women. I know...she's been dead for upwards of 35 years or so but it hurt. Why was it, and is it so interesting for some white people to poke fun at blacks? I'm not talking about white commedians who speak about black people in their routines, or even black commedians who tell the truth about some of the culture...I'm speaking of people who are purposely mean about blacks.

Its no better, really. We've had stereotypes for years, centuries even. Right now I can't come up with one thing I'd make fun of whites on. Not one. Not for the lack of trying to but because all of the stereotypes I know of about white people aren't true at all. The ones I know about Jews aren't true at all. So I have no reason to make fun of them.

Why do you think Oprah is building schools in Africa and not for the impoverished black communities in America? I can't understand that.
It is called a fabulous tax break and too a means to exploit the African loving media. In a way I think it is good that she is doing this. Thanks MarZutra - what you say rings true. We can only hope for the day of her relocation... and that she takes some friends along too!

Some friends, how about the masses? When I was living in Philadelphia I worked with a woman named Dolores, a very sweet woman now passed on. She told me "The Circular Theory of Life" there in the US for which she got stuck into. She purchased her home in Chester PA. She purchased her 3 bedroom home in the early 1950's when Chester was being developed into a White Christian community on the outskirts of Philadelphia. She purchased it with hopes of it being a good investment for future retirement. As the years passed, blacks moved in and whites moved out. She held onto her home hoping that it would end or this trend would pass and revert into a nice pieceful town again. Well it didn't. As time when on the town became a Turd world, crime, drug, rape and disease infested toilet for which her, upon her retirement her home was worth, now 40 years later, only $5000.00 (or less) than she paid for it in the 1950's. She couldn't afford to sell. That piece of realestate should have quadrupled in price if not more in that period, in fact it declined....
Her theory goes as thus: The Whites/Jews see a nice piece of property as either an investment or a vacation spot to get away from city life. They purchase, zone, develop it into a crime free, safe American rural neighborhood. Once Blacks move in there is a trickel of Whites leaving to recapture their investment or make a few. Soon that trickel turns into a flood of whites fleeing as blacks move in driving crime and all other negative aspects of civilized living up driving market prices down. Now that, once peaceful white Christan/Jewish neighborhood is a black suberban town. Black culture dictates that flashy cars and the like are more important then the up keep on ones property. Within a few years the black suberban town turns into crime infested Black "Ghetto" (which is really an improper term stolen from Jewish history which a more correct term should be Black slum). Now that property prices have fallen to the point where new Hispanic Portorican etc. now start moving in causing the blacks to move out.....into the White Christian/Jewish new suberbs.....
The Hipanic empoverished illegals of inferior culture have driven out the blacks allowing the once black town to become a total empoverished welfare, crime, drug, prostitution infested Portorican neighborhood. Now these bombed out homes (similar to the interior of every major US city) and housing projects of the lowest humanitarian classifications cause land values to decline lower than the remediation value making investment and land reclamation possible.
These low prices, often with town grants available to developers, make attractive for investment. So about 60 years later, Melvin McDonald, whose great grandparent fled their lands years earlier comes in and buys lots up for a steal and develops shore front property, golf courses, condos, shopping malls.....etc....again to flee from the blacks that are starting to drive down the White/Jewish neighborhood.....
The Circular Theory of Life is repeated....
...sorry to digress...... All blacks should feel proud of donating monies to Africa, volunteering in Africa, Helping their own and even returning to Africa..... Africa belongs to Africans...whether they be "African" Americans, "African" Canadians, "African" Britians..... albeit one never hears of "African" Mexicans, "African" Jamaicans, "African" Haitans...... ??? Again....hate-whitey...

The Circular Theory of Life - I have witnessed it with my own two eyes :'(.
As always your posts are very interesting - even in digression.
I will from this point foward be happy to see Oprah and her people donate to Africa - in hopes of a better future for all. ;)

I find it funny but mainly the way Chaim says it, especially with him being a white jewish man.
When we anglos take off Indians , we totter our heads and say "oh, goodness, gracious me, sahib".....we're not doing it to be mean. It's just our take on them.
They also insist on calling you "dear," and if you ever go into a chat room , they will start messaging you and they have the chutzpah to tell you that they will NOT leave you alone. I have heard and seen stories of children who have been attacked online by these Bengal perverts. They will insist on wanting to have cybersex with you and showing their provate parts to you with their webcams
Indians to me are no better than schvartzes and Muslim sand-schvartzes

That's funny because I saw once that The Wizard of Oz was remade into a black movie with blacks playing Garland's and others' role.
Wasn't it called "The Wiz" I never saw it but it looked nasty. Here they had the old Wizard of Oz movie with all the nice singing and dancing and then they do this remake with black folks and it just doesn't seem the same. Hmmm I wonder why? A year or so back they tried that again with the old Honeymooner's show from the 50's. Somehow the thought of black folks playing the part of Gleason and Carney just didn't sit well with me. I don't think it sat well with many other folks either the movie did not do that well if I recall correctly. Classics like that are a one shot deal its very hard to recapture that sort of magic twice.

Your friends story is exactly how it goes. Some years back I would drive down with my father to a place in Brooklyn N.Y. called Red Hook. Back then the once well off neighborhood of brownstones houses were boarded up and abandoned for the most part and the ones that were not should have been with whatever was residing in them still inside.
I had just started working at the time and had a few bucks. My father would always say you should look into buying one of the buildings down here and renovate it would be a good investment. Some of the old brownstones were still very majestic and it later turned out that one of them was even owned by J.P Morgan in years past. Anyway seeing what was walking around down there I could see all the building material and my hard work being carried away after I left each night during the renovating process by the creatures living there at the time. The buildings could have been had for a song back then.
Well long story short some smart folks bought in at the bargain prices and renovated the buildings back to one or two family homes and the place today looks much as it might have when it was in its heyday. cjd never seeing a good investment when it was in front of him didn't. Today a investment of maybe a 100gs back in the 80's would bring well over a million in return today. So MarZutra your story is exactly right its too bad the person you know bought the property on the declining part of the cycle. Its to bad Chester PA went that way. I was there about 15 years ago to visit the Franklin Mint Museum and the place seemed very nice back then.

I'm going to agree with most of this post because its true. Yes, there are blacks who have lived in the ghetto so long that wherever they go they take a peice or a few with them to nice neighborhoods. Its the mentality that I don't agree with and I grew up around it. Somewhere down the line, someone dropped the ball and found it unnecessary to take credit for their own lives. Now there are some black children out there with the 'can't do' attitude. We have no one to blame but those who dropped the ball. The only thing I'm trying to figure out is how, as a teacher (in 4 years) can I make a difference in the children's lives I'll be teaching. How do I get the parents to understand that there is more to life than giving up on their children.
I read where someone here said that basically blacks who give up on life and do wrong pass it on to their children and they become just like them. I understand that A LITTLE but I'm not willing to say that that's where it ends...it may be where ist begins but its not where it has to end. For every action there is either a negative or positive reaction (I believe the saying goes). If my husband and I could escape the perrils we went through in our lives living and thriving in the projects, other children can also.

I'm not saying that I don't like ummm-hmmmm, I just don't like the way some people here use it as if its a lower language because black women say it. Or that its a stupid thing to say. Its used as an insult. And when its made fun of, its like you're making fun of us.
I'm not talking about white commedians who speak about black people in their routines, or even black commedians who tell the truth about some of the culture...I'm speaking of people who are purposely mean about blacks.
That's funny because I saw once that The Wizard of Oz was remade into a black movie with blacks playing Garland's and others' role.
And that's bad because? The movie was excellent. My daughters were introduced to both of them and love them equally. Both were appropriate for their times.

Imerica! :D
Where you bin, Honeychild?..........we missed you.
BTW.......The best teacher in the whole USA is a black gentleman named
Crazy Joe Clark......the "HNIC" by his own words. You should emulate him.
I don't think I have to give students the proverbial 'beat-down' in order to get them to listen to me. No "Bat Woman" for me. But I'm willing to look at how he solved problems in his school without the use of violence. I loved the movie, by the way.
ETA:
Please, when you call me 'honeychild' and use the word 'bin' instead of BEEN to speak to me, eventhough you're joking it makes me feel as though you're poking fun at black people. So speak to me the way I speak to you. I've never come in here speaking out of terms or in a language that I feel you'd make fun of.
Oh, and I've been spending time with my family and trying to concentrate on a thesis I'm working on for school.

My whole 'thing' would be messed up here if I responded to you the way some of you speak. Almost like , "Damn! I fell into the trap...they got me to say ...ummm hmmm!!!" I'm not going out like that...buying into the negative vibe where it pertains to my use/ or lack there of (here) of ebonics. I speak it but its not to discredit my race or anything like that. Its about comfort. I grew up where people I knew spoke like that every single day. When I became a grown-up and had my own children, I dedicate my entire time with them trying to teach them how to speak correctly so that they don't run into people like Yacov and freeze up. I can decypher ebonics very well, so I know what the teenagers are saying and I also remember when slang was different in my day. But I'm not a fan of using ebonics in professional areas where you have to know what in the hell you're talking about. I'm especially not a fan of using ebonics when you want someone in an interview to understand what you are saying. It becomes problematic and then becomes a post in a thread on a message board about 'how dumb black people sound when they open their mouths.'
-
The use of ebonics should be put to an end - period - it sounds dumb wherever it is used ;)

I dont' think it should be put to an end because it is part of the evolution of blacks speaking in America. Some haven't learned to speak proper English yet but at least the kids are more than likely better equipt to learn to speak proper English because of the way school is taught nowadays. That's what I hope to conquer when I become a teacher.
-
Well Imerica - I went to a fully integrated NYC public highschool. The black kids I went to school with did not speak ebonics. To me it seems a step has been taken - backwards. I could at least understand my black classmates. If they have not learned to speak proper english by now - I think it must be hopeless.
Why do you think they haven't learned to speak proper english? I won't buy any answer that has the word slavery in it - it was just too long ago!

Well, just like racism has been passed down since before slavery, bullcat, so has the language of slaves. So whether you agree with it or not, it is what it is. WHen I was growing up I knew a woman who lived in the same building we did and she was only recognized by her children as "Mu'Dea" which in the South, means Mother Dear. She often spake with ebonics much older than what the young people are speaking now. Its something she grew up with and couldn't shake because she was the decendant of slaves in the South. She had 14 children...most of them made something of themselves and got their education without having to use the ebonics they'd grew up listening to from their mom. A couple went to jail for stupid things..things that they had choices not to do. But my point is that speaking ebonics dosen't have to mean the ending of the black race. As long as there are young black children, there's always a chance to change the outcome of their lives...as well as the way they communicate verbally. It may have gone a step backwards but guess what that's how it is in the South. There are people who still haven't gotten out of the 'slave talk' stage there. There are WHITE Southerners also who speak a improper English. So many blacks were so uneducated for so long that they got stuck. Then the blame game started. Like I said, somewhere someone dropped the ball and now young blacks have to pay for it.

I like how you squeezed in the line about racism being handed down from before slavery - whatever that means. So I'll squeeze in my thoughts on that one. I learned to have the prejudices I do from life experiences. For one thing my parents are not racists - just realists. They tried to hand me down good judgement . I'm sorry if your parents handed down racism to you.
How far out are we from slavery?
You are just making excuses. There are people who come from other countries - speaking no english - who learn to speak proper english rather quickly. So I want to know what makes blacks different. Why would a black in NYC or LA speak ebonics? Unless they are homeschooled by Mu'Dea.

You don't believe that racism existed before slavery began? Wow... and all this talk about how Jews were wronged (which I agree with...just being sarcastic). YOU ASKED about ebonics. I TOLD YOU where it came from. AND I EVEN AGREED that its taken some blacks backward..but again, you and your selective reading. ::) A lot of times people from other countries aren't put up with people in the hood who speak ebonics. The reason they know Proper English is because an educated white person taught it to them. In some cases Educated Blacks teach people from other countries how to speak English.
If you had grown up where I did, you'd come out of the situation either speaking the way people speak to you or speaking proper English. If I'd grown up where you did, my ennunciation verbally would be a lot more refined.

Racism is a word you seem to like to throw around alot. I'm sure prejudice has been around a long time. I don't think most of the time it is about the color of a person's skin. I think more that it is related to the behavior of a person or group.
Racism against whites may have been passed down among your people.
My parents did not spend time teaching me to hate people because of their skin color.
I am very wary of black people though -you know who may have had a hand in that - the black rapist of my aunt, the black gunman who held a gun to my mother's head during a robbery and the black murderer of my 19 year old cousin.
I read very well - so well - that I see how you select not to answer my questions. What excuse is there for a black child to speak ebonics if he attends school in NYC or LA? Are they not able to learn in school? Is the asbestos and bad books keeping them down. My cousin speaks the language of her parents birthplace in the home and in her community. She entered first grade not speaking a word of english. She just finished her first year of college(fully paid for by scholarships). Apparently she could learn American despite what language is spoken in her home - because it was important for her and her parents to attempt to do so. The reason another language was spoken at home was to communicate with the elder members of the family.
Anyway whatever - no point debating the issue - when you can't you always try to insinuate I'm dumb or racist.
You should get rid of that chip on your shoulder (the one that always causes you to cry racism) it must be very heavy.
PS - after I posted this - I read that you are leaving the forum - so I feel a little bad - but it is still how I feel - hope we debate again in the future ;)

Who called you a racist, bullcat? No one. You mentioned that I throw racism around a lot... I have pointed the finger at a few people here who in fact ARE racists but never you. You seem to be the one with the chip on your shoulder. Its understandable that you'd be wary of black people from the personal experiences you had. They were terrible. But my experiences with the white people who have been less than kind to me should make me wary of white people as well, wouldn't you think. But since I don't blame YOU for what happened to me by white people in the past, I'd think you'd understand. How wrong I was.
-
I hate that word racism - because in my mind it makes it all about skin color - so sorry if I jumped on it.
I just want you to understand why I feel the way I do.
Behavior counts. Young people in general should be taught that.
Regardless of skin color. That is why I feel - parents today who know better should try to eliminate ebonics.
Believe me - I could understand you being wary of white people.
Maybe I do have a chip on my shoulder - but that chip is not related to anyone's skin color.
Anyway I'm dozng as I'm writing -so nothing good could come out of these fingers.
Good Night Imerica.

I understand everything you're feeling bullcat. I always have. You and danny have been two of the people here who I disagree with on a daily basis but can find common ground with because at the end of the day, evil people still suck!lol I think race is culture. Not color. My tint dosen't make me better or worse than you are. Its still skin, afterall. lol WHat I DO in this skin would make me either as good as you are or worse than you are. :)

What the Hell is this? Evolution? I'd say digression if anything.... If they haven't learned how to speak proper English by attending free, and subsidized eduction there is no hope. Personally, I think there is much more to it then that. I went to school with Blacks. I speak proper English and they choose to speak Ebonics b'cuz dat be coo. I hope when you become a teacher you have a sign on the board "SPEAK ENGLISH" That way perhaps, if your students can read, they'll get the hint that societal digression is what plagues the Black communities not "evolution". I wish you the best of luck Imerica in your profession and everything else you do. I know we butted heads on somethings and agreed on others. Best of luck to you and G-d bless.... Perhaps you can be the savior or Massiahess for the black community by becoming an activist advocating the just and moral obligation to support Africa/ans to build a functioning moral society fit for a mass righteous return...... :)

Fear not. Like herpes, she'll be back.
Ebonics was bad enough, but now it's morphing into something I call Arabonics.
"You best free Mumia or we's gonna go jeeeehad on yo ass."
