Here are some interesting videos discussing the period on the Jewish calendar we are in now, called 'Sefirat HaOmer' which means 'Counting the Omer'. It is the 49 days from the end of the 2nd seder of Pesach till the 50th day when we celebrate Shavuot (Weeks) when we stood at Mount SInai and received the Torah from Hashem.
As edu posted in a previous thread, the sages and the mekubbalim explain that these 49 days are a period we are supposed to go through middot tikkun (Character Trait Rectification). It is explained that the Children of Israel in Mitzrayim (Egypt) had become affected by the negative energy in the idolatrous land of Egypt. Even though these Israelites were the best of the lot, even they had fallen to the 49th level of impurity. This impurity prevented them from receiving the full light of the redemption and from receiving Hashems covenant with the Jewish people.
So these 49 days are used to elevate our traits, so that we are more perfect vessels for the light of Hashems revelation. The Jewish way of life is to always use this world to increase our awareness and love of our Father in Heaven, to elevate the world and thus elevate ourselves and those around us...
Let us start with the laws and customs of counting the days of the Omer...

Lag B'Omer is coming up this Sunday.... Lag B'Omer refers to the day of the Omer (the 33rd day of the omer)...
On this day we reduce the level of mourning for the students of Rabbi Akiva who died during this period. My Chabad Rabbi is throwing a Lag B'Omer party on Sunday which I will attend... We also celebrate the light of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochi which shines through the Zohar.
Here is a video of a Lag B'Omer celebration with the Lubavitch Rebbe:

This is awesome, some righteous Jews in San Francisco (of all places) openly standing up for Israel, burning the hate literature of self-hating Jews and antisemites.

Kol hakavod again Muman613 on all these great videos and I especially enjoyed the

Shalom Nachus, thank you so much... I am so happy you enjoyed them. I really think that Voice4Israel in San Francisco is incredible.. I live 30 minutes from SF and didn't know there were even Jews who supported Israel in the city.
I am also 'jazzed' to learn that last Sunday the 'progressive' shul which I occasionally go to recently held a Pro-Israel talk which was written up in the local paper. It gives me 'Nachas' to know that despite my being on the 'left' coast there are still Zionists who are not afraid to state the obvious facts about the state of Israel against the slander from the self-haters. Even the 'not so observant' are zionists...
What celebration would be complete without the "Na Nah Nachman" dancers?
