Title: How to make your password uncrackable (and easy to remember!)
Post by: Shlomo on May 08, 2013, 11:05:31 AM
Think you are secure?

Passwords: You're doing it wrong. Here's how to make them uncrackable.
http://www.pcworld.com/article/2038067/passwords-youre-doing-it-wrong-heres-how-to-make-them-uncrackable-.html

Also, try your password over at Intel's Password Grader and see how many days (or minutes) it would take to hack your password:
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/security/passwordwin.html

Lastly, use LastPass (totally free) to store your passwords (encrypted so that no one can see them - not even LastPass!):
https://lastpass.com/

So how did your password fair in the grader? Need to change your password (http://jtf.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;area=account)?

CONGRATULATIONS!
It would take about 33 years to crack your password.

No wonder my e-mail got hacked into a while back. The password I was using says it takes 8 hours to crack. lol Thankfully the one I'm using now is better.

I really should be using that Last Pass site because sites force me to make new passwords now and then and I'm having trouble logging into the same sites because I forget my passwords. :(

This is important... especially with the recent outbreak of Brute force attacks.

A lot of people really don't realize how easy it is to crack their password. I recommend people read the article. It will help protect them.

Thanks but I'll stick to my password. Even though it can be cracked in only 2220 years, it's much easier to remember.
