What a joke. Three years, of which he might serve 14 months? How about sentencing him to bring back the rhinos he helped to slaughter, and if he can't do that, giving him the chair?

Redneck Jew. I believe that we should respect life. Rhinos are being hunted down by humans, not the other way around. They may not be cute and cuddly like puppies or kittens but they are being needlessly slaughtered. They have a place in nature and in God's plan and humans have no right to annihilate them.

In a survival situation where you must hunt to live then one of the easiest sources of meat is insects. Just avoid brightly colored ones and for the most part they're safe to eat if cooked briefly to kill internal parasites.

Non-kosher food is only permitted in the case of pikuach nefesh, a danger to human life. In such a case, I don't think rhinos would be the only option of food to say alive, unless you live in the middle of a jungle and have to eat what the hunters and gatherers of Africa eat in their primitive hunting ways.

But we don't live in Africa, so where are you going to find rhinos in the wild? The only rhinos I know of in the US other than in the zoo are the fat ones that are governors of states like New Jersey but those don't have an h after the r.
If you had to hunt non-kosher animals to survive, it would be easier to find squirrels and other such animals. But geese are probably a better choice and are also kosher. So if you hunted geese, the problem would be eating nevelah, not eating non-kosher species. Also, they are larger so an easier target than fast moving small squirrels.

You should have a little more respect for Hashems Torah, and the laws of Kashrut. Rather than assume such a defensive position, and cause some to make accusations, you should just accept that it is wrong to eat non Kosher animals, and you hope to be able to keep completely kosher eventually.
I think your outlook on treatment of animals is a bit unkosher, for reasons I have mentioned before, but I think this current argument is basically counter-productive.
We all must accept that the mitzvot are binding on all Jews, we do not just pick and choose which ones are right for us. If we err and violate, in this world we live in today, we try to mend our ways... I do not seek to justify the things which I do which are not kosher with the Torah, without the standard of the Torah the religious Jew is without a compass.
I understand you were brought up where everyone hunts and eats alligators and other animals which are not kosher. I realize you have a taste for this and it is difficult to stop... When I made teshuva and stopped eating cheeseburgers and other mixtures of milk and meat it is still something I miss...

Ya'll Know this did become very a funny post, I understand where everyone is coming from, and here in Dixie we all do try our best to be keepin Kosher and sure we all keep preps to do well by our family for long stretches of time, but if some how them preps be up and lost by weather of by force of evil men, we can survive.
I hear all these commercials on television and radio about buying up Gold and silver and these new bit coins, I be tellin ya this the most precious metals you wants to be invest in these here days are LEAD and BRASS and the more the merrier I suppose like a Child at the candy store.

You write about doing your best to keep kosher, yet you mention that you hunt, which is forbidden by Jewish law. All kosher animals need to be ritually slaughtered according to Jewish law, and that doesn't include shooting them.
Also, as much as well all hate the Obama regime, I somehow doubt you're actually living in, or close to some "Hunger Games" type scenario.
If you want to be prepared for the worst, then by all means, stock up on grains, beans and other non-perishable items. But don't use the possibility of the excrement hitting the fan as an excuse to ditch Jewish dietary laws.
