1 against here.

I think affirmative action is wrong. I don't think it's the government's responsibility to get blacks jobs they disproportionately don't get because 70% of their fathers deny them a proper upbringing that would teach them the morals/integrity they'd need to be successful & competitive when looking for work. They also disproportionately preach resentment against job creators, and create their own negative stereotype that would discourage employers from wanting to hire them.

AA is racist !!
-
Affirmative Action is racist indeed.
-
affirmative action is just one of many invisible slave chains that keep blacks as victims. affirmative action welfare an food stamps an lowered test scores an requirements are just as effective in keeping people enslaved as actual chains. and the blacks have been falling for this ruse ever since the 60s. Maybe some day they will catch on, but history would tell us otherwise, in the mean time we have to put up with these affirmative action superstars like Obama as they wreck anything they put their hand to.
-
Affirmative Action is evil and counterproductive. People should be accepted into schools and hired for jobs on merit, not because of race. If a black person is the most qualified candidate for a job for example, by all means he should be hired. But not because a quota has to be filled.
-
Obviously AA is a racist policy. Any policy which grants special rights and privileges based on the color of skin is a racist policy. While there may have been a time when the government should assist them in their goal of 'equality' with the other races, that time has long since passed.
We attend the same schools, colleges, go to the same movies, eat in the same restaurants, work at the same companies. There should be NO special privileges for people based on their skin color.

Haha Chaim who was going to vote in favor of it here?

I am firmly against "Affirmative action." It's original intent is wonderful, but the actual results have been beyond pitiful. We need a system of merit. eb22 is right. "Affirmative action" is counterproductive. Also, this form of blatant discrimination has resulted in a negative view of how blacks are perceived by non-blacks. How many people here would trust their lives in the hands of a black doctor?
Lastly, Barack Obama ys'v is proof enough of why "Affirmative action" should be eliminated completely.

We actually had a proposition on this in California outlawing affirmative action.... which is considered to be one of the brownest and most leftist states in the country.... and in spite of not a single major politician supporting it... and with no commercial support..... and all the bumper stickers were against the proposition.... IT STILL PASSED!!!!! because its so obviously fascist to punish children or adults based upon their looks/genes.
And guess what????? Our stupid court system overturned it.... why??? because not a single black could get into law school that year.... and California is slowly becoming a fascist state anyway.
So lets continue to punish white and yellow people because blacks don't study for tests..... and lets continue to allow Reverend Jackson and Sharpton to say we need to do this because the evil greedy jews and asians are forcing the honest hard working black/brown people to get lower test scores.

Here in California the voters mean absolutely NOTHING. Our votes go straight from the ballot box into the trash can...
I voted for Prop 8, it passed, and the stupid courts overturned the will of the voters. I will never again vote for any proposition because it is completely pointless. The views of the voter are not respected in California.
-
I oppose affirmative action, it's either AA for everyone including whites or for no one. True equality means competition based on skill, knowledge and intelligence, not on racial background.

Yes.... do you notice a pattern in the propositions that were 'overturned' by our 'smarter than thou' judges...
Lets see..
Proposition 8 - Against Redefining marriage
Proposition 187 - Not allowing illegal aliens to receive social services
proposition 209 - Not allowing someone's race to be used by government/schools.
Hmmmmm... what do these 3 issues that all have popular support in California have in common??? There is simply no other common issue with these 3.... other than they are considered right of center.

The only affirmative action I'm for are for poor people irregardless of race and religion.

What do you mean?

AA has actually made race relations much worse. The election of BHO has done the same.
I thought this was going to be about what the cause of AA is similar to Shlomo's recent poll with a long list of choices to choose from.

It has. Its one of the reason why I never would trust a black doctor. Not because of their skin color... but because the government used the skin color to put them in a position that someone with a different skin color with similar scores would not be qualified for.

affirmative action is a clear violation of the constitution's equal protection clause, as Rabbi Avigdor Miller points out.
