I know this has nothing to do with what you guys are talking about here its just I was wondering if anyone on here has some sleeping probs like I do. I see people are online early sunday morning and I was wondering if anyone has insomnia like me.

You better believe it DownwithIslam.  I've got severe sleeping problems. Sometimes if Im really interested in something I can stay awake for over 30 hours or so.  It's a severe problem for me, I survived with it throughout college but I'm concerned about keeping a standard sleep schedule and going to sleep at a normal time for graduate school.  If you have any tips or recommendations let me know.

Half a bottle of Pussers' Rum will usually do it.

I meant any tips except that.  I've been following a steady regimen of a similar "sleeping plan" for a while already.  Hehe

There you go raising the price of Pussers Rum telling everyone on the internet about it newman:-X. The military grade Pussers  is the better of what they sell. I tried the more expensive grade and it was not as tasty. A nice shot of rum before bed is definitely conductive to a good nights sleep.
Ze'ev, when your up for the extended periods of time do you try to catch up on your lost sleep?  I am an early riser about 4 am even on weekends however I don't  know whats got into me this weekend after 6am on both mornings. Bedtime is when I am tired or bored between 9.30 to 11.30 pm depending. Its a routine I have had for years. The trick as I see it is you have to get your body into a routeen sleep time and stick to it.

Zeev, I can't really give you any tips as I am battling this problem myself. I refuse to take sleeping pills as that is just avoiding the problem. I want to get to the root of the problem. All I can tell you is that the majority of sleeping problems come from people thinking about sleep and getting nervous about not falling asleep right before bed. Sleep is not something you can force, it must happen naturally so when you get anxious about it, you will not fall asleep. If I am very calm before bed and I know I don't have to wake up at a set time the next day, then I can fall asleep. The problem is that during the schoolyear, I have to wake up early and I never fall asleep. It's bad.

I rarely have a nights sleep without waking up a couple of times or finding myself across the other side of the room. Either that or I have immensely vivid dreams, that cause me to sleep for excess hours. Do you ever get that feeling as if theres a lump in your throat and the tension is really bad, when you're trying to get to sleep?

I'm not too sure downwithIslam but try the basics such as having a hot bath before you go to sleep or refraining from exercise at least four hours before sleep. That might help, otherwise, maybe medication, but thats not good at all.

I used to when younger, walk about when i was asleep yet i was conscious, doing unconsious things. Also talking in my sleep, i hate sleeping over at peoples houses in case i let things slip............does anyone know what this is?

I was gonna say you should exercise closer to going to sleep. Run a few miles in the evening and when I hit hit the pillow I'm out.

Yeah, actually you should be pretty tired after plenty of exercise.....i just sometimes feel more alive and ready to do something. Read a dead boring book in bed.
