Remember that scene in Minority Report, where Tom Cruise is on the run from the law, but is unable to avoid detection because everywhere he goes there are constant retina scans feeding his location back to a central database? That’s tomorrow. Today, Google is tracking wherever your smartphone goes, and putting a neat red dot on a map to mark the occasion.
You can find that map here (https://maps.google.com/locationhistory/b/0). All you need to do is log in with the same account you use on your phone, and the record of everywhere you’ve been for the last day to month will erupt across your screen like chicken pox.
We all know that no matter what ‘privacy’ settings you may try and implement, our information is all being collected and stored somewhere.

That's not a surprise.
You can also log into your google account that your android phone is on and view device manager to see where your phone is located in case you forgot your phone or if you just want to know where you're employees are.
google just wants to make sure you are safe. they're not interested in turning your arse over to the facist government.
You can turn off the GPS.
You can also open up your phone and remove the GPS.
But most people don't know that.

Read that article. All it takes for for evil is for good people to do nothing. Apathy on privacy is dangerous and wrong - and assumes complete trust in our government. How many times have we warned people on how many subjects? How many times were were wrong? Ever? Not once. Do you trust our government? Look what has already happened to innocent people by this current administration.

Just within the last 100 years, IBM used it's own census data for the Nazis to find and kill over 6 million Jews. That was very real. Think about how much more information they collect today. Did they have anything to hide? Did they do anything wrong or illegal?
There is so much on this subject. I try not to scare people... but your privacy matters. And so does the privacy of your family and loved ones.

I agree with Shlomo 10000000%. Who says what is legal, or not? They do! They already call right wingers terrorists. All it takes is one big event and they will be rounding people up.

Its little and its square and its black and it has little gray letters over it. It also has many pins sticking out that were soldered on by a very fast machine. Its not humanly possible to desolder them.
You dont cut out the chip.
You can cut out the antenna if you want. Or you can put a little piece of tape over the connector. There's a connector that matches the one on your phone's back cover. But you don't have to go there. Just disable it in your settings.

Keeping your gps on also costs battery life. Mine is always off and I've got a piece of tape over my front camera.

Wise ack should be listened to. Hey have you read wild swans three daughters of China by Jung Chang? How accurate was it with "defamation ceremonies" and life under the communists?
Also, anyone can triangulate your cell-phone position anyways, smart or not. I keep far away from them because they're illegal to throw in the garbage because they're radioactive, and there's two places you don't put something radioactive, and both are hit when you put your phone to your ear and then in your pocket. I wear two lead things when getting x-rays for broken bones (considering how often it happens, it's wise) and the only time i use a cell-phone is when someone holds it for me on speaker.

Please do not use curse words (even slightly modified to try and bypass the filter). This is a religious forum and we have children (some from Chaim's family) who read the forums but do not post. I put that word filter in place for a reason.
Also, I want to make sure Dr. Dan is shown respect. He does more for us behind the scenes than most people know.
You can't remove your GPS. You can only turn it off in the settings (and turn it on only when you need to use it). Furthermore, if you connect to cell towers, the phone company still has your physical location and they sell your data to Uncle Sam... just Google and the phone apps don't have it. It's better than nothing.

All I can say is peoples thinking in general about how much their movements are tracked has changed a great deal in the last 30 or 40 years... Back in the 60's and 70's this sort of intrusive tracking and information gathering would have not been acceptable to most law abiding Americans... People were more vigilant back then about their privacy and knew that their personal freedom was in danger if to much information was being compiled about what they were doing... Today people can't live without posting their every move on Face Book and the constant communication their cellphone gives them... I watch people waste hours a day holding their cellphone reading and sending texts... Watch some of the crime shows and you will see how all the drivel people send in the countless useless texts come back to haunt them G-d forbid they get in the slightest trouble... The horse is really out of the barn on this issue... People today have embraced this sort of tracking and electronic snooping into their personal business they see it as being normal... At best it can be minimized but sadly as time goes on even people like myself who seek to avoid the electronic rats find it almost impossible to transact daily business without coming into contact with at least some of them.

People are so busy trying to outdo the next person on social media, they are not thinking about the ramifications of exposing every aspect of their lives to the world.

But, it is the reality now. People have to try and limit the access.
Even a trip to Disney, seems like an information gathering experience. What with wrist bands that you wear and apps that ask for access to much of your phone. People give up so much information, in the name of 'fun'.
