Title: Shas and sefardic institutions
Post by: Dr. Dan on December 16, 2014, 03:46:46 AM
I have learned that when the jewish state was first born, Ben Gurion, mapai, histadut etc took away Judaism from the sefaradim. They called one's parents primitive for being religious. Etc etc etc

Could it be that the corruption of shas to aid its own institutions was a way of returning the grandchildren of these victims back to Judaism and in a way get revenge on the  secular establishment left wing Ashkenazim ?

Your thoughts.

Partly. At least that is what it was founded for. This is what Rav YAAKOV Yosef said that it stood for in the beginning. To work for the disenfranchised Sefardim who did not have institutions and very little funding for anything (while the $ was going to others, their institutions, projects, schools etc.)

The IDEA is not bad nor wrong, BUT the problem was and is when this is what they ONLY for mostly stand for, then that is the problem. I wouldn't call it corruption if one is working towards having funds for ones sector and for example have the schools you want to send your children and the children of your constituency funded )as all other sectors were and are), but problems when it becomes main focus and real Torah principles are ignored and things are compromised + these same institutions taken hostage by those same leftists you were supposed to fight against.

Thanks for clarifying that.

It's too bad shas or most individuals in shas didn't stand up against kahane's expulsion and supported Oslo. They became puppets of the very people who took away the jewish pride of their grand children.

Their motto is (up to my possible translation error) "restoring the old glory". But in truth the shas institution are modeled after the litvak ones, founded by sefaradim who received education in those litvak yeshivas.

Prominent Sefard rabbi says "don't vote for Deri or Yishai, indeed don't vote at all!"
