Yisrael Beteinu with the big score today. The party of being Russian and saying no to coalition governments with Haredis. What a vision! Now Lieberman can hold the whole country hostage. No coalition can be formed without him. Unless the Arab party joins the govt.
-
do we know the count yet?
crazy if that's the case..then the haredi will be like the arabs..not wanting to side with anyone..It's a mistake not to include the haredi..they will become the majority very soon.

haredi..they will become the majority very soon.
Mmm, not really.
They are estimated to have 8 seats UTJ and 8 seats Shas. Not even close. I know they have a lot of kids but they are not becoming the majority.

UTJ has positive population growth. It's the only party that caters to a specific demographic that would never vote for anyone else. So when their kids turn 18, they gain voters. They always gain about one seat every election.
Shas is not only for Haredi voters. Some Traditional Sfaradim that aren't even Shomer Shabbat vote for them. Probably some Arabs do also because Shas wants money for large families.

The only way there can be a government without Yisrael Beitenu is if it's a national unity government with Likud and Blue and White. If Yisrael Beitenu wants a Left Wing government with Blue and White, they can't do it without the other Left Wing parties that would refuse to sit in a coalition with Lieberman whom they think is a Right Wing extremist. Also, the Arabs wouldn't join a government with him.
-
If Ganz forms the government with Lieberman, i hope he doesn't govern like a left winger like Barak and Olmert.

Haredim would refuse to be in a government with Gantz and Lieberman would not sit with Haredim so there could not be such a government. Barak and the new Meretz would refuse to sit with Lieberman so how can they have such a government? Also, the Arabs might have up to 15 seats. They would not sit with Lieberman either.
There either has to be new elections or Netanyahu can lure some people from Yisrael Beitenu and Blue and White into Likud. The majority of the Jewish vote is for the Right. The Left can never have a majority without the Arabs. That's why even the openly Left Wing Barak had to have the religious parties in his coalition.

And you've done absolutely nothing to dispute my claim that they are not "becoming the majority."
"Things that might happen in 2045 if everything today stays on its exact current trajectory for several decades" is not a reasonable discussion.

Great Post.

Lets say Ganz forms a government with Lieberman.
I just hope Ganz isn't like Barak and Olmert. That would be the real disaster.
Barak and Olmert wanted to divide Jerusalem and give up the Golan.

I think Ganz wants unity govt. That will probably have rotation for PM. That would also mean Bibi loses his immunity from prosecution, so he doesn't want this. But he would need Lieberman for Likud to form a coalition without the left. And Lieberman is pushing Likud to get rid of Bibi. So if Likud wants to run the govt without the left, they will probably need to replace Bibi ( Don't think that's happening). Otherwise probably a unity govt.
All of this because of one man's personal hatred for Netanyahu.
-
Otzma also made a mistake here by not forming some kind of technical bloc with the right. They ended up well short of the threshold and wasted a ton of rightwing votes into the trashbin.
Bibi is now saying either make me PM in coalition or form a govt with the Joint List. He's trying as hard as he can to get a unity govt with Blue&White and convince them to make him PM, IMO. Not sure if that's going to work.

This is how bad the political picture is in Israel. It's almost as bad as it is here.
-
What Netanyahu should have done years ago is let Chaim in Israel and let Chaim have his Kach party run for elections in the Knesset.
Chaim would have won so many seats and Netanyahu would have needed Chaim and his party for Netanyahu to stay in power.
Having Chaim in the Israeli government would have been the greatest thing for Israel.
