I like to ask my fellow JTFers if any of you like the classic 1956 film, The Ten Commandments? Also, do you think the film is an accurate repesention of the story of Moses?

We remember what you wrote 15 years ago. It seems like the movie is your understanding of the Torah. The movie leaves things out. It leaves out the Sin of the Spies which is the real reason the Jews stayed in the Desert an additional 38 years. It was a punishment. The Jews weren't lost. Also, the Ten Commandments were given in the daytime, not at night. We all have a picture how it is based on the movie even though it's wrong.

Great movie, not all accurate though

There were tons of things wrong like calling Moses the son of Hebrew slaves when he was nothing of the sort because he was the tribe of Levi on both sides &Levi was not slaves like the other tribes also they get the name of Moses's mother wrong it was Yocheved not Joshabell & Pharoah's daughters name wrong it was Batya not Bithia as well as Mose's wife's name wrong it was Tziporah not Sephora as well as tons of other things!!!!

I have to concur with the great ChabadKahanist’s
essential take of this movie, particularly the aspect
of inaccuracies regarding how Moses and others were
depicted which were neither Biblically or historically
accurate but it could be that Hollywood put yet
another ignorant “spin” on things, not uncommon for
them.

Could you imagine if they made this movie today? They would have obligatory rump rangers & carpet munchers in tons of scenes!!!

Not just that, but all of the special effects will be done on a computer. The effects in the film won the Oscar for special effects. The Red Sea part was really something to see.

Deformed Jews made it. They don't know about anything.

Also, Pharaoh be black if they made it today or they would make Jews black. The Ten Commandments is on a list of movies claimed to be "whitewashed".
