Recently, Mitt Romney has been claiming to be the only real conservative in the GOP primaries.
He says real Republican but he probably means conservative, despite the fact that many Republican politicians--especially at the federal level--aren't really conservative. McCain went on to criticize Romney's past political record and his campaigns from when he ran for the senate against Ted Kennedy and later on for governor of MA. McCain would know considering he campaigned for Romney. But now Romney is trying to disassociate himself from McCain because Romney knows that conservatives aren't fond of McCain as a politician.
And when asked who he considers a real Republican--one who represents conservative principles--he mentioned Duncan Hunter.
