(IsraelNN.com) Strategic Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman told Voice of Israel government radio Monday morning that Israel should apply to be a member of the European Union (EU). He explained that the alliance, along with an affiliation with NATO, is a way to face growing Muslim terrorism.

The government previously has been fearful of becoming part of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) because Israel might lose its military independence, a fear that Minister Lieberman rejected.

And I'm sure Joseph Lieberman would love that idea too. (Although I might add that for all practical purposes Israel already is part of the EU. The IDF has already surrendered all of its autonomy to the Wehrmacht/Luftwaffe/Kriegsmarine who are there to assist Hezbollah in its next blitzkrieg.

I support Israel joining the EU, but it could also have serious disadvantages.
