I love my faith, I really do.  And want to see a strong come back of the Catholic faith among young Catholics especially when their minds are so warped with the  b.s. they see on television.   I think thats what is needed.   And he addressed the one thing that is a long time coming for the holy father or someone to come forth about.   Now I wish I could of gone to see him live.   But thats ok.

And I like how he wants to extend that hand between the Catholic faith and the Jewish faith.  That has been a long time coming.  I know many of you do not like Synagogue he went, but it is an attempt.  And that deserve credit

One view that is being expressed here that bothers me is the excuse given for joining the Hitler Youth יש''ו שר''י. There is NO excuse for joining an organization of mass murderers. The Hitler Youth were assigned the task of slaughtering the weakest elements in Nazi-occupied Europe: the elderly, small children, people with physical and mental disabilities and so on.

Anyone who murders innocent people to save their own life is committing a horrific crime against G-d and humanity.

BTW, the Pope joined the Hitler Youth and afterwards was a soldier in the Nazi army of genocide. He now claims that he was forced to do so. That is what almost all Germans say. The historic truth is no one had to force Germans to join the Hitler Youth or the Nazi army - they did so with unprecedented enthusiasm.

I am not trying to offend our great Catholic members whom I respect tremendously. But I have to correct the record when attempts are made to whitewash what happened when 6 million Jews were murdered. Those who participated in any way in Nazi organizations or movements or the Nazi military were part of the most evil crime ever committed in human history.

I don't think anyone here has or would attempt to whitewash the Holocaust or the role of the Hitler Youth. But to portray Pope Benedict as a Nazi is just historically false. He came from a very anti-Nazi family which had to flee their town after his father, who was a police officer, fought with Nazi supporters and later retired early because of difficulties at his job after the Nazi's created a single police force in Germany.  Pope Benedict also had a cousin whom was murdered by the Nazi's because she was mentally retarded. And during the war the Ratzinger family would gather to secretly listen to allied radio broadcasts- something that could have got them sent to concentration camps if they were caught.

Pope Benedict had almost no involvement with the Hitler Youth at all. He never joined it himself, he was automatically enrolled in it by his school and went just one time to speak with the local leader of the Hitler Youth. He needed to have proof of attendance of Hitler Youth meetings in order to get a tuition discount. Hitler Youth meetings were intentionally held on Sundays to prevent the youth from being able to go to Church so they could be brainwashed by Nazi mysticism instead. Benedict went and told the Hitler Youth leader in his town that he could not attend because he was studying to be a priest but still needed proof of attendance to get the discount because his family was poor. The leader said it was okay and he would take care of it for him. That is the totality of Pope Benedict XVI's involvement with the Hitler Youth. He had no role whatsoever in any of the horrors committed by that evil organization. Two years later he was drafted into the army and assigned to guard an airplane factory and later dig anti-tank ditches. He refused to join the SS and fled his unit a few months before the end of the war which would have resulted in certain death if caught. While there is no excuse for him not resisting being drafted into the army he does deserve some credit for risking his life passively resisting the Nazis and for his actions after the war in trying to heal relations between Christians and Jews.

Although I totally disagree with the idea of a "Pope" and his "See" as it has no basis in Christianity aside from being a direct hangover to ancent Rome's Mithras Pagan roots.  I'm sure Alexander the Great and all the rest of Rome's Caesars would also agree.   ;)  The Pope recently made a speech that sounded more akin to Socialism over his Catholicism; World Religion, Equality, "Peace"...  I thought it was one of those wack jobs advocating "Global Warming".

Knowing the pure corruption and vileness of the Papal office/See/Vatican through out virtually its entire history, using the Medici Family as the best example, one is lead to the views largely placed forward by individuals like Eric Jon Phelps and even Barry Chamish...hold a bit more water than given publically...

I'd love to know how much Jewish assets, Judaica, ancient Jewish manuscripts, Torah Scrolls and Jewish artifacts hidden within the Vatican thieved from Israel during the Vatican's long tenure?  I'd love to know how much Jewish money and assets were/are either still in the Vatican or kept within one of their banks?  I'd also love to know the whereabouts of the numerous Nazis and Communists smuggled out and placed into Government offices of Western/Arab/Communist nations via their "Rat Lines"?

Most Catholics I know are very nice people however; I detest the Vatican with its Pope.  You know, one must too state the hypocrisy of the Pope/Vatican stating that "having/acquiring wealth is a sin" while the Vatican and the Papal See are amongst the most wealthiest of Establishments on Earth.  You, yourself live in squalor but please do not forget to send in a large donation….  Sorry if I had "offended" anyone ???

i agree many people think that the vatican has jewish artifacts from the jewish temple period.

the pope knows that catholicism is finished, it is losing its members to other churches. so now he is trying to reform it and make it more modern like a new statment which says that being excesifily wealthy and littering is a sin. the church itself is extremely wealthy and the only reason why the church doesnt let priests marry is so their children would not inherit property( yes this is the real reason you can look it up yourself).

i will not stop attacking the pope until he drops the prayer that calls for the conversion of jews

You make many good points in your post and I could not help liking this pope after watching him the past few days. I respect what Chaim says on this issue but in all honesty I have not really seen anything that said this Pope was a willing collaborator of the Nazi system. Most of what is being said about his past is gossip and speculation. If historical facts were brought out placing the Pope in questionable situations in Nazi Germany it would then be a different picture for me. The Vatican may have a checkered past however the past few popes have tried to make some amends.

Re:  "...The Hitler Youth were assigned the task of slaughtering the weakest elements in Nazi-occupied Europe: the elderly, small children, people with physical and mental disabilities and so on..."

This is incorrect.

The poster is confusing the Hitler Youth with the SS.

It was the SS which was the elite group of murderers and torturers.

The Hitler Youth was primarily extended "day camp" to brainwash adolescents while at the same time keeping them physically fit.

By the time Pope Benedict went "on the lam" from the Hitler Youth, Germany was losing the war, being bombed into submission, and drafting 12 yr. old boys to the "Eastern Front" as a last gasp defense against the Soviet Red Army.

I fully share the greatest contempt for those willing Nazis who were overjoyed to commit genocide, but I strongly recommend reading the eye-witness accounts of the late American "Berlin Correspondant" William Shirer, author of The Rise and Fall of The Third Reich, and Berlin Diary.

Shirer lived in Germany during the rise of the Reich, and his reporting is of the highest level, as well as from the viewpoint of a true American patriot.

He and his wife literally had to run for their lives and struggle to return to the U.S.

It is my opinion it is not enough to simply feel anger against Germany and Germans who committed the most monstrous acts in modern history.

Anyone intent on making sure it does not happen again should thoroughly educate themselves on every factor which led Germany to become insane on a mass scale.

Rabbi Meir Kahane wrote much on this subject; warning us that Americans have throughout our entire history been far more violent and uncivilized than Germany and the German people.

Indeed, virtually no one could be found anywhere in the world during the 1920's/1930's who seriously considered that the most advanced and civilized nation in the world could take Herr Hitler as anything other than a sick joke.

Rabbi Kahane spelled out in exact detail the current conditions leading America down the same path as Weimar Germany.

Read Time To Go Home, and allow our blessed Rabbi Meir Kahane to enlighten you on the nature of Germans as a people, and on our nature as Americans.

You are wrong. The new sin is "financial gluttony." The Church does not believe there is anything sinful about having or acquiring wealth but being gluttonous is a sin as it always has been.

As a Jew,I simply look at this pope, as I did with the last one, just another man who is very religious in his faith.  He is not a god, he is not an angel...he simply, to me, is a just a man who happens to be an icon to many followers.  When he speaks, to me, it's just an opinion he holds.

However, what's important about him is that many follow what he says.  So I can say that, with some exceptions, he generally says good peaceful things.  Unfortunately, he blindly takes sides for other causes that are considered evil to us.  Since it seems he has a good heart with what he wants to do for the world, I would consider him misguided when it comes down to certain things especially with Israel's right to protect herself.
If someone says something bad about you, say something nice about them. That way, both of you would be lying.

I would value your post more if you would please give some examples of how the Catholic Church is actually "pagan" Church.

I can't help but remember how Rabbi Kahane was also called a pagan by ignorant no-nothings like yourself so I would like to thank you for putting the Catholic Church under Benedict XVI in the same category as great men like Rabbi Meir Kahane.

8 milons of Germans were enrolled in wermaht or other III Reich's paramililitary organisation, so we coud say that all of 80 years old are nazi, and that  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morgenthau_plan was good idea unfortunerly after the end of the war the western alies especialy USA needed strong Western Germany to counter the comunist influence which in reality they brought themselfs... America has long history of supporting and arming its future enemies. Anyway sixty years after WWII it's too late for any amendements despite that rebuilded by US and now united Germany are power behind new vocal oponent of America the EU. As to the pope I do what every non catholic shud do: I just ignore him. I don't like all this new age/liberation theology bubling rhetorics he uses but this is what mayority of priests/ortodox pops/rabbis of today use simply to comunicate with people brainwashed by TV/schools. And BTW Christans will always proselite this not anti Jewish thing just what made them christian. However in today's West where the religion tolerence reigns this shud be no problem for the people strong in their faith.
Jeremiah 8:11-17

11 They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. Peace, peace, they say, when there is no peace.

12 Are they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when they are punished, says the LORD.

13 'I will take away their harvest, declares the LORD. There will be no grapes on the vine. There will be no figs on the tree, and their leaves will wither. What I have given them will be taken from them.'

14 Why are we sitting here? Gather together! Let us flee to the fortified cities and perish there! For the LORD our God has doomed us to perish and given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against him.

15 We hoped for peace but no good has come, for a time of healing but there was only terror.

16 The snorting of the enemy's horses is heard from Dan; at the neighing of their stallions the whole land trembles. They have come to devour the land and everything in it, the city and all who live there.

17 See, I will send venomous snakes among you, vipers that cannot be charmed, and they will bite you, declares the LORD.

17 See, I will send venomous snakes among you, vipers that cannot be charmed, and they will bite you, declares the LORD.

Love your Enemy
And Heap Burning Coals on his Head!!!

Dear Dhimmi_Pride, I have never attacked any member on this forum without just and moral cause and would respect the same respect:  “ignorant no-nothings like yourself”.  I am not going to digress into theological debate.  Firstly, my comments were directed towards Rome's Papal See and the position of a Pope specifically.  But since you've asked about pagan examples I might ask when was the last time you walked into a Catholic or Greek Orthodox Church?  When was the last time you’ve actually read the Bible, even though it is not and never was applicable to the non-Jew?  How many “graven images” or purely pagan objects/signs, the trident or sun for examples, do you see within?  Where in the Bible does it say to pray to Mary, Saint George, parts of dead religious leaders/Saints and even the validity of the Pope and his Papal See?

Perhaps some additional research might assist your knowledge in the historical specificities surrounding not only the history of Constentine's Imperial Catholicism yet also the Vatican/Holy See and too the Reformation/Counter Reformation...and even the less known Counter-Counter Reformation.  I’d strongly recommend starting with Paul Johnson’s “A History of Christianity”: http://www.amazon.com/History-Christianity-Paul-Johnson/dp/0743282035/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1_s9_rk?ie=UTF8&s=books&s9r=8a1080b60c7c75e3010c7e249e360040&itemPosition=1&qid=1208955607&sr=8-1

After which I’d suggest: “Jews in the Roman World” by Michael Grant:  http://www.amazon.com/Jews-Roman-World-Michael-Grant/dp/0753807513/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1208955702&sr=8-1

One may well include a base work in the history of anti-Semitism to tie this all together for a rounded picture of this specific topic as how this history relates to the pure distortions and attacks on Jews and Judaism.  If you even delve into the History of the Americas you will find a very active and strong conflict between the Pope/Papal See, Catholocism and their various Protestant/Christian sects directly stemming the outcome of the 1517 Protestant Reformation and the numerous Papal/King abuses of Christians.......

Too, I’d hold off, or at least think twice before you delve into personal attacks and name calling especially towards members who are definitely not “ignorant no-nothings” which would actually deal with the area of one’s personally lacking knowledge and therefore “know-nothings”…

I respect your posting and too your valuable knowledge and I hope there will be no harm in this specific misunderstanding.  I do apologize toward any offense toward you personally. ;)

PS: Perhaps too you might research the specific reasons for Calvin and Luther's Reformation?

PPS: Eric Joh Phelps is a very pro-Israel Seventh Day Aventist but due to his Christian teachings/views knows very little about Judaism nor Jewish history via his belief that being a Jew is purely racial.  He was interviewed on Israel National Radio and found himself in debate with Tamar Yonah in his belief that only the "Racial" Jew, thus the direct line of Yakov/Israel, has G-d given Deed to all the lands of Israel.  He has stated publically and within his book "Vatican Assassins" that the "Racial" Jew is entitled to the lands of Israel, all the Mosques must be taken down and the Arabs expelled....  Not in those terms.

He converted the top muslime journalist in Italy recently the coranimals were furius.

That is the best thing he has done. O0

Albeit he has still a chance to do something better than the best. He can remove the Jewish from his Conversion Tables.  O0 O0

I think he is already doing a pretty good job on some areas.   On others I do not agree with him telling the US to invite Illegals and I am a devout Catholic.  However, that issue also relies on our govenrment who allowed this mess to start with illegals.   And he has called upon Muslims to get out of their sick dark cult and see the light.
