Miami mayor states "Biden promising an assault weapon ban"
« on: January 25, 2009, 01:21:30 PM »
http://www.cnn.com/video/?/video/crime/2009/01/24/dnt.assault.weapons.cnn

Further into the video airing on CNN, one of the Politicos states (paraphrased) "Biden is a good friend of mine, and has assured me that there WILL BE an assault weapons ban coming"

Start buying AK47's and AR15's if you want them now guys.

Load up on ammo too. They may just tax or ban certain ammo.

If this story is true, then it will be an interesting vision as to where the left /right divide stands right now in the United States.  Even debating such a bill would truly be a measure of the level of confidence in the Congressional far-left.  And losing such a debate would be a measure of the ineptitude of the Republicans.

There's a real risk here for both sides:  If Obama were to press for this and lose, then he looks like a fool for wasting political capital against an opposition that refuses to compromise, when there's much easier fruit to pick against the supine Republicans.  If Obama wins, then he's cemented as a juggernaut.

You can believe this:  No matter what bill is discussed, the hard-line gun owners will not compromise.  You can expect a run to buy whatever would be outlawed, following by a serious black market.  And if there's talk of mandatory turn-ins, these guys will bury their weapons and ammunition for later use.

There already is a rush to buy whatever whatever is available and the gun shops are sold out of everything because of the high demand. Prices have literally tripled. I paid 300 dollars for my AK47, now they are going for 700-1000 dollars on gunbroker. AR15's are going for about 1300-2000 and normally sold for 700-1000.

Time to join the NRA I think.

What part of respecting this country's Constitution don't the damnable brain-dead liberals understand!?  >:(

The Second Amendment is there for a very serious reason, it's not about self defense of the individual or hunting (though, those are definitely benefits) the founding fathers of this great country, in their great wisdom, drafted the Second Amendment to give Americans the ability to liberate their own country from tyranny, to protect the country from enemies, both foreign and domestic. It is not in the oath for citizenship because it sounds pretty.

The founding fathers drafted our Constitution after barely surviving a war with the then tyrannical British, they knew that tyranny could return, and the only way to ensure that the citizens of America could hold on to they're freedom, was to empower them, with firearms, real firearms, not hunting rifles, not handguns, weapons of war. Today, that would be assault rifles.

I think this is the source of the liberals objection to assault rifles, it's not about crime, it's about their power, it's a hell of a lot harder to set up a Socialist neo-Communist state in complete violation of the Constitution of the United States of America, with a bunch of pissed off righteous highly armed Americans out there.

Nuke the arabs till they glow, then shoot them in the dark.
