Republican leaders have asked that House Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) resign after a new book reported that during the 2008 presidential campaign the senator described Barack Obama as a "light-skinned" African-American "with no Negro dialect unless he wanted one."

Reid has since apologized to the president and other black political leaders for the remarks, stating that he deeply regretted the poor choice of words. Obama has accepted Reid’s request for forgiveness, calling his comments "unfortunate."

Meanwhile, certain members of the GOP have identified a double-standard in the way that Republicans and Democrats are treated following racially insensitive remarks. Some conservatives believe that Reid should step down, just as Trent Lott did after the racially charged comments he made in 2002.

"There is this standard where the Democrats feel that they can say these things and they can apologize when it comes from the mouths of their own," said Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele on Sunday. "But if it comes from anyone else, it’s racism."

"It’s difficult to see this situation as anything other than a clear double standard on the part of Senate Democrats and others," added Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas).

I live in Reno, Nevada and I think there's a good chance Reid will finally be ousted from office if the Republicans run a decent candidate against him. He's polling really poorly and hopefully might very well be on his way out. Wouldn't count the dirtbag out just yet though, as he does have quite a formidable political machine here.

Kind of amusing that he's catching such heat just for stating some truths about Osama and using the words 'light skinned negro'.

Anyway, here's a funny little story that tangentially concerns Reid that I was part of.

It's New Year's Eve and I'm at a VIP New Year's Eve party at a local casino here. I'm eating dinner, drinking some wine and feeling no pain.

My buddy tells me the Governor of Nevada, Jim Gibbons is here and he's sitting with his party just two tables away from me. Governor Gibbons has just gone through a contentious divorce proceeding revolving around an extra-marital affair with a Playboy bunny.

Well, it's time for Muck to go meet the Guv and his blue-blood friends !

So I saunter over to the Governor's table, wish him and his party a happy New Year and extend my hand for a shake.

"Happy New Year, Governor !  I'm a fellow Republican. When are we getting rid of Harry Reid ?" asks Muck.

"You can call me Jim, and I'm having a big fight with Reid right now." says the Guv.

"Really, over what ?"

"He's trying to screw the State again." says Jim.

"Well, that's certainly nothing new is it ? I'm more concerned about him screwing the entire country ! "

That brings a smile from the Governor. We're pals now, but Muck knows better than to intrude on the Governor too long, so it's time for a parting comment.

"Jim, it was nice meeting you. It's time we were rid of Reid and Pelosi, and also the Muslim Commander in Chief ! "

I thought the Governor's cornhole might pucker a bit over the Muslim remark, but nope, nothing. Just a subtle nod of agreement and a parting handshake.

Great story, bet you had fun that night! Sounds like MOST politicians feel the same way we do about BHO, this is good to know!
