AVON PARK -- An Avon Park man was arrested on Thursday and charged with 218 misdemeanor counts of misuse of the Highlands County 911 call center for making lewd sexual comments to female dispatchers.

According to the HCSO report, Timothy Todd Lawrence, 31, made the calls over a several day period spanning from Feb. 13 through Feb. 20.

On Feb. 13, Lawrence called the E911 center located at 434 Fernleaf Ave. in Sebring 151 times between 2 a.m. and 10:52 a.m., but would hang up if a male dispatcher answered, the arrest report said.

When asked if his calls were to report an emergency, Lawrence would answer "no," and begin making suggestive sexual comments to female dispatchers.

On Feb. 15, between the hours of 1:53 a.m. and 8:07 a.m., Lawrence made 35 phone calls following the same pattern of behavior.

On Feb. 20, Lawrence made 33 phone calls between 10:43 a.m. and 1:34 p.m., and deputies were able to conduct a search from those calls.

The search revealed a location close to 2376 N. Highlands Blvd. in Avon Park, according to the report, where Lawrence lived.

Arresting Deputy Ernest Gelinas stated that he determined that Lawrence was connected to the cellular phone used to call in, and observed that Lawrence's voice sounded similar to the E911 calls.

Lawrence's bond was set at $109,000 by Judge Anthony Ritenour on Thursday.
