Everyone has an option to vote twice only because some people might be a combination of two things. Enjoy.

Well for purposes of this Jewish movement, I would be curious to how many non-orthodox Jews were participating in jtf.

OK, I'm confused, probably by my own ignorance.

Hassidic and Lubovitch are both "Orthodox" Judaism, right?

What is the difference between an "Orthodox" Jew and a "Modern Orthodox Jew"?

The distinction is superficial, not substantive.

Born again Christians do not call themselves Protestant. Protestant is a denomination that most born again Christians reject. There are born again Baptists, Pentecostal Christians, and others who simply prefer the term Christian with no denomination. But born again Protestants would be a rare breed.

I have a problem with this one.

A Jew is a Jew is a Jew, don't let people think different, the labels are just window dressing.

And if you're not a Jew, you're a Noachide i.e. Son of Noah so that's everyone else.

But you're a Chrisitan you say? That just means you're a Noachide practicing Chrisitanity. Being a Noachide isn't something you choose to do, you're just born a son of Noah if you're mother's a son of Noach, just like you're a Jew if you're mother's a Jew. Most people don't understand this.

The only question is are you a "Noachide Chassid" i.e. a practicing or devout Noachide i.e you beleive in the whole Torah and committed to practicing you're part of it...the 7 Noachide laws.

P.S. Even Jews are all sons of Noah, we're just sons of Jacob also that's why we're called the children of Israel (Bnei Yisroel).

I hear your point Lubab. It's comments like this that makes me like Lubavitch. They are the only religious group which recognizes non religious Jews as human beings. And the fact that they share many beliefs with kahanists doesn't hurt either.

I think Lubab is incorrect.  A Noahide is not the same as a Christian although it might be possible for a Christian to be a Noahide.  They are different religions with completely different beliefs.  Yes, everyone is the "son of Noah" but that's not what a Noahide means, it means someone who practices the 7 laws of Noah and nothing else.

No Lubab is correct. Noahides are Christians but those who follow the seven commandment for gentiles.

There is a difference between a Noahide and someone who follows a religion that includes the 7 Noahide principles.  A Christian can theoretically follow Noahidism, but they are Christian and define themselves as Christian.  A Noahide is someone that only follows the Noahide laws and nothing else and they define themselves as Noahides.

It is really a play on words and is hard to explain.  In the poll, a Noahide refers to a pure Noahide.  That's what I'm trying to say.

I selected "Born Again Protestant" because this was the closest to what I am, and is technically true  and accurate. But I don't like the term; Jimmy is right. I would have much preferred a generic "Christian".

Jdl4Ever:

You're talking about what people PRACTICE (and in practice of course you are right that being a Christian is different from following the 7 laws). But I was trying to explain that being a Noachide is something you are born into and not something you need to practice to be. It has to do with who you're mother was. If she was a Bat Noach, you are a Noachide. If she was Jewish you're Jewish. Those are the only two options. What you PRACTICE is another story. But it's important to have you're terminology right.

People have come to think that only one who follows the Noachide laws is a Noachide but that's not really true. That's just an observant Noachide or in the language of the Rabbis one of the "Chassidei Umos HaOlam" what I call a Noachide CHASSID.

Just like when we says someone is an observant Jew. He's a Jew by birth, and if he chooses to practice Judaism that's another story. Even if he doesn't practice the commandments of Judaism he's just as much a Jew by virtue of who his parents are. So too, even if a Noachide doesn't practice his laws, he's still a Noachide.

This is the way Chazal (Talmudic Rabbis) use these terms and I think it's important for us to know.

P.S. Thanks downwithIslam. When it comes to Israel I think the Rebbe and Kahane were really on the same page.

The Rebbe will always be my leader, but I will help JTF make a stand against the threats to Israel's existence because Jewish lives are at stake.

I don't like the term "Modern Orthodox."  It reminds me too much of Kahane's term "Moderdox."  I would have preferred "Chardal Jew" or "Religious Zionist Jew."  But I said it anyway...

I put "modern orthodox" for myself but I prefer the term "Orthodox Mitnaged Jew" since I think "modern orthodox" is too ambiguous.

I didnt really know what to put myself under. IM somewhere in between orthodox, and mordern orthodox. I dont wear a black hat, and white shirt, and black suit, but I do wear kippah, and tzitzit, and learn everyday. I picked orthodox.
