RE: Arizona Boycott
Dear council members:
Your comparison of the beginnings of Nazism with Arizona’s SB 1070 is patently absurd. I suggest you read William L. Shirer’s “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich” to obtain a realistic & factual grasp of Nazi Germany. Your contrived BS is an inexcusable affront to the 6 million + Jews & other “racially inferiors” who were murdered by the Nazis.
What’s really at stake here is that the L.A. City Council lacks the guts to deal with the horrors of illegal immigration, and uses the Arizona law as a diversion. Similar to the Council sticking its head in the sand, for years, about rampant City spending, and malfeasant financial agreements with its labor unions. Because of this ostrichitis , the City is now teetering on the verge of bankruptcy.
According to the Department of Labor, nearly 16 million American workers are looking for jobs. Our jobless rate is 9.9% nationally, and 12.6% here in California. According to CNN, the 16 to 24 working age group, - - all people in that age group available for full time work have a 19% unemployment rate, nearly double the national average. For young African-Americans, 29% unemployment, and for young Latinos unemployment is at 21%. Many of these figures apply to unskilled & less-educated Americans who are forced to compete with illegals for the same jobs. It’s unconscionable that 5.4% (Pew Hispanic Center) of our work force is comprised of 8.3 million illegal immigrants, jobs that should be taken by millions of less-educated, low-skilled Americans. No American should be jobless while millions of illegals remain employed.
Two years ago CNN stated that ten percent of Los Angeles County residents were illegal aliens, the highest concentration in the nation. According to L.A. County officials, the taxpayer bill for illegal aliens in Los Angeles exceeded $1 billion a year, not counting education. The most recent illegal immigration estimated costs to California are $8.9 billion (net) annually. That’s 44.5 % of the projected state $20 billion budget. Yet, the federal government is doing very little to crack down on illegal hiring, or deport those caught working here illegally.
Illegal immigration has become a metastasizing tapeworm that has been virtually ignored by the L.A. City Council, a group of bozos who seem to prefer grandstanding to camouflage their lack of intestinal fortitude.
Sincerely,
Michael Scott
