Michel Aflaq, the founder of the Pan-Arabist and Fascist Baath party. It is important to understand your enemies, so that is why I am posting this.

Are they equally as bad as Al-Sadr's group?

They are really on the decline, as is the whole of Pan-Arab Nationalism, but they have done some terrible things in their time. Consider Saddam was a Baathist

I know he was a Baathist.  But doesn't JTF say al-sadr is worse than the Baathists?

Pan-Arabism is racial Islam. It is not religious Islam. So instead of wanting to kill all Non-Muslims, they want to kill Non-Arabs.

Was Arafat a Pan-Arab like the Baathists?

To some degree, but the longer his terror career went on the closer he came to Islam. He was also, at least on paper a Nasserist, they are Pan-Arabists but a different faction then the Baathists.
