When the United States gives military aid to Israel it is not always in the form of a blank check, but quite often, the aid is in the form of US goods. This permits the United States to boost its industries while aiding an ally nation. That is to say that while America does assist Israel, Jerusalem is compelled to purchase US made goods in many cases, at times leading to the closure of businesses here in Israel.

One victim of such aid is the Brill factory, which is closing its doors following a decision from Defense Minister Ehud Barak to purchase army boots from the USA, as stipulated in the aid agreements between the two countries.

The truth is these boots are NOT made in the USA. All American boots are from Eagle Industries and Blackhawk and they outsource to Vietnam!

This is but one small example that the US aid to Israel is harmful to the Israeli economy. The overwhelming part of this aid comes per the agreement in the form of purchasing defense products from US companies. So from American prospective this aid money is actually government subsidies to American industry (as well as taking off potential competition from Israeli industry).

Another rather recent example- Israel transfered the production line of it latest APC, the Namer, from Israel to America. So now Israel is going to buy from General Dynemics an Israeli APC. It's not going to cost less to produce this machine in America and ship it to Israel. And moreover it's a blow to the Israeli heavy industry to which this is a big project.
