Computer Election Day Bugs Give Likud Black Eye
Netanyahu urges Likud members to go to the polls to nominate Likud MKs, but colossal foul-ups leave long lines of frustrated Likudniks.

The Likud is suffering a black eye on primaries Election Day due to colossal computer foul-ups, leaving long lines of frustrated Likud members. Hundreds of others have simply given up and returned back home or to work.

Education Minister Gideon Sa'ar urged officials to halt the election process. He wrote on his Facebook page, “Stop the elections now and hold them on a new date to be determined.”

Likud Primaries Vote to be Extended
Likud's Election Committee decided to extend the vote until midnight, and possibly past Sunday, because of computer failures.

By 6:00 p.m., it was reported that 23.5% of eligible Likud voters had participated in the polling.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met with Vice Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon in the early afternoon, regarding the possible extension.

Yaalon said after the meeting: "I spoke with the prime minister a short while ago. I proposed that today's computerized voting process be stopped and that the vote be continued manually in the coming days."

Yaalon said that whoever has already voted will not have to vote again and his vote will be counted. He suggested that the manual vote take place next week

LOL, is it really hard to imagine that Likud party chairman is trying to rig the elections so that the lineup turns out as he desires?     Manual vote?!    Ahh yes, let's trust the mighty party masters to do everything kosher 100% and count all those votes for their preferred candidates only once.     Let's drink some more likud kool aid!

Likud Primaries: Rain could Wash Away Meridor
Forecast for rain has Netanyahu supporters worried, because Feiglin supporters are more dedicated.
Rain is forecast for many parts of Israel Sunday, and this has supporters of Binyamin Netanyahu worried. They believe that a downpour would favor Netanyahu's nemesis within Likud, Moshe Feiglin, in Sunday's Likud primaries, and endanger the political future of Likud "prince" Dan Meridor.

Feiglin's supporters within Likud are considered to be a highly organized and dedicated group, in comparison with the average Likud member. Common political wisdom says that when a vote is held in unfavorable weather, it is the more dedicated and organized group that benefits.

Netanyahu's people are concerned that Feiglin will attain a position on the list that would allow him into the Knesset. Analysts estimate that Feiglin's chances to enter the next Knesset are very good.

The Netanyahu camp also fears that veteran minister Dan Meridor will receive an unrealistic placement. Meridor is considered a Likud "prince" along with other sons and daughters of Likud leaders, like Benny Begin and Limor Livnat. He is very close to former Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch and is probably the cabinet's most leftist minister.
