Television personality Glenn Beck has aroused Jewish criticism for depicting New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg giving a Nazi salute.

Television personality Glenn Beck, who has been known for his staunchly Israel and conservative views, has aroused Jewish criticism for depicting New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg giving a Nazi salute.


Speaking at the National Rifle Association's annual convention on Saturday night, Beck likened the mayor to a Nazi for his campaigns to limit the size of sugary drinks, salt intake, curb tobacco displays and gun control.


"Glenn Beck, the keynote speaker at the NRA's annual convention, trivializes the Holocaust when he compares New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to Adolf Hitler," the Jewish B'nai B'rith organization told ABC News.


"The casual use of Nazi imagery or words serves to undermine the atrocities of the Holocaust. Glenn Beck should apologize," the organization said.


Abraham Foxman, a Holocaust survivor and national director of the Anti-Defamation League, objected to the image and Beck's comments.


"While he doesn't say it, it seems Glenn Beck is implying through an image of Mayor Bloomberg in an apparent Hitlerian salute is that the mayor's policies on gun ownership and other issues are turning New York city into a Nazi-like state. That suggestion is outrageous, insensitive and deeply offensive on so many levels," Foxman said, according to ABC.


"Glenn Beck should know better. He has drawn similar inappropriate analogies to the Holocaust before. We wish he would stop trivializing the history of the Holocaust to score partisan political points," he added.


Mayor Bloomberg, who is Jewish and who has spearheaded a new effort to widen background checks for individuals buying guns, declined to comment on the comparison to a Nazi or to the other criticisms at the NRA convention.


The Fox News commentator travelled to Israel on a solidarity mission, dubbed “Restoring Courage,” in August of last year, where he addressed thousands of supporters in a highly anticipated Jerusalem event.

Conservative radio host Glenn Beck demanded that “the mainstream media” apologize to him on Tuesday after reports claimed that he depicted New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg delivering a Nazi salute in his address to the National Rifle Association. Beck and his hosts savaged the media for incorrectly claiming that Beck had lifted the theme form Nazi imagery when it was, in fact, Soviet propaganda art. He added that it’s “weird” that the media does not seem to be outraged by the reproduction of communist iconography from the 20th Century in spite of the murderous history of Soviet-style regimes.



ABC News reported that Beck “aroused criticism by a major Jewish group for depicting the mayor giving a Nazi salute.” Anti-Defamation League director Abraham Foxman said that Beck was “implying through an image of Mayor Bloomberg in an apparent Hitlerian salute is that the mayor’s policies on gun ownership and other issues are turning New York city into a Nazi-like state.”

“I would like to call for an apology now by the mainstream media, particularly ABC News, for smearing my name and saying that I am making Bloomberg look like a Nazi,” Beck said on his Tuesday radio program.

“Nobody is actually really upset,” Beck added. “ABC has just exposed themselves as reading Media Matters.” Becks said that only the liberal media watchdog group had picked up on that story prior to ABC’s report.

Beck and his co-hosts determined that the imagery they were attempting to invoke was early 20th Century socialist iconography of Soviet origin.

“I hate to do this to you, ABC News, but what you stop taking your stories directly from Media Matters, you might begin to have a little bit of credibility,” Beck continued. “I’m sorry this looks to you like Adolph Hitler, but this was actually the exact image ripped off Soviet propaganda art – who also killed a lot of people, yes. But you guys never seem to have a problem with Lenin. You never seem to have a problem with Mao. You never seem to have a problem with Stalin. Isn’t that weird?”

Both attempted to remove guns from the hands of Jews... Hitler was an avid gun control nut... Ensuring that those who most needed the protection from guns didn't have them, so that his henchmen could corral the sheep for slaughter.

I also think Doomberg is a fascist nazi for attempting to legislate sugar consumption and siding with the islamofascists who want to build a 'Victory Mosque' on the sacred ground of the WTC which was attacked by 'pious muslims' on 9/11.

These self-hating Jews (like Abraham Foxman) supposedly don't want to "trivialize" the holocaust, but yet do nothing (not even speak out) about Iran's nuclear missiles (where they promise to "wipe Israel off the map") or Hamas and the Arab terrorists in Israel who openly call for genocide against the Jewish people while raining missiles down on them and their children over years. Where is their outcry there? These self hating traitors are disgusting and care nothing for Israel, the Jewish people, G-d, or the Torah.

Abraham Foxman and the ADL have attacked Glenn Beck for using imagery that they claimed was Nazi at the NRA convention.

The problem is that Beck did not use a mock-up of Mayor Bloomberg giving the Nazi salute — the image was of Mayor Bloomberg in a famous pose of Vladimir Lenin. (See the full ABC News story).

The image of Lenin that Glenn Beck used is so famous and iconic that statues have been made of it. Perhaps the most famous one is now in Memento Park in Budapest.

Foxman and ADL have not only displayed the inability to tell the difference between Nazis and Communists, but, more important, the difference between who the Jewish community’s friends are and who our enemies are.

The ADL has been wrong about Beck for years.

ADL’s foolishness must stop. Foxman owes Beck an apology.

Also worth mentioning here is that the ADL has chose to remain silent on the latest outrage from Chris Mathews where he compared the National Rifle Association to Nazis.
