New York, NY - Dow Closes Above 14,000 For First Time

New York, NY - Stocks posted a solid advance today as investors gave the Dow industrials their first close above 14,000. The blue chip index finished with a gain of more than 82 points at 14,041.
Advancing issues on the New York Stock Exchange led losers 5-3 on volume of about 3.1 billion shares.

The Nasdaq composite index was up 20 points at the 2,720 level, with roughly 2.1 billion shares traded. [wnbc]
