On July 10, 1941, half the residents of Jedwabne, a Polish village 85 miles northeast of Warsaw, murdered the other half. The mob, led by the mayor, were Catholics; their 1,600 victims were Jewish, slaughtered over several nightmarish hours with bats, knives, rifles and other improvised weapons.

My mothers family hails from the land of Poland, they left in the 1900s to come to America.

My fathers side came from Ukraine at the same time (1890s-1900s). Both Poland and Ukraine grew into antisemitic hell-holes leading to the wholesale massacre of Jews. Today they are trying to minimize the numbers, I saw this in regards to the Massacre at Uman which initial estimates were 30,000 Jews killed. Now they revised the number down to 2-5 thousand.

She took that quote about poles from former PM Yitzhak Shamir. A hero in his youth who sadly became utterly evil late in life and was involved in banning Kach and Rabbi Kahane zt'l from the knesset.

Not surprised. Most of Israel was involved in some way in banning HaRav (ztl) from public life in Israel.

What I meant was that at the time of his banning, didn't the elites manage to convince (or brainwash) most of the Israeli public into supporting it?

A social group. I think it comes from the word "branch" in French or some other language.  In Israel we usually use this term for the media people; they call themselves "The Branja".
