Noam Federman to Stand Trial for Fighting Back after Ambush

When Noam Federman's car was pelted with rocks, he got out and fought back. Now he will stand trial for damaging a vehicle.

Well-known Jewish activist Noam Federman of Kiryat Arba will stand trial for an incident last year in which Arabs ambushed his vehicle with rocks.

Federman will be charged with damaging a vehicle.

The incident took place when Federman was driving through Hevron with two of his children. They were ambushed at close range. Federman and his son immediately got out of their car and chased the rock throwers into an alley.

In the alley, Arabs threw more rocks at Federman and his son, who threw rocks back. A video shot by Arabs shows Federman approaching an Arab vehicle, pulling out some egg cartons that were in it and throwing them onto the ground. He also appears to hurl a rock at the vehicle.

According to Federman, when police questioned him, they showed him a military video showing how an IDF vehicle was attacked at the same spot just before his vehicle got there. Instead of catching the attackers, the soldiers drove off, he said – leading the ambushers to attack his car next.

Federman said that Judea and Samaria Police filed the charge sheet without first holding a hearing with him as he had requested.

"It is a very grave matter, that the prosecution in the State of Israel has turned the attacked into the accused,” he said. “We all know that rocks were thrown at me and my family, and all my actions were in self defense. I intend to turn this trial into a political one, which will examine the IDF's policy of restraint in Judea and Samaria. The policy has led, and is leading, to the murder of Jews and one must not remain silent, even at the cost of a charge sheet.”

What is the charge? Will the Arab rock throwers be present in the trial as victims, or will they be avenged in absentia? What a farce of a courtroom Jews face in Israel.

If they bring the Arab rock throwers as witnesses or the plaintiff to trial, the court just created a legal precedent that declares Arab rock throwers as unpaid vigilante deputies of the state, since their right to throw rocks and potentially murder people supersedes the right to life and self-defense, like police have. If they don't bring them to trial, photoshop a picture or video of the judge throwing rocks at Arabs, anyone can now be brought to trial on suspicion without a victim pressing charges. How do they know he wasn't dodging bullets and picking up and throwing those rocks was the only way to do it? If they consulted with the Arabs before or during the trial, that means that rock throwing is a right of all Israelis, unless the government wants to make it official that Arabs have rights that Jews don't, or that rock throwing at cars is still a crime, but is no longer a crime if the rocks were thrown back, which means that if you throw rocks, bring a friend to throw them back at you, and keep passing on the rock throwing crime and immunity before they get you.

Overall, the judges in Israel all belong in a special needs educational facility, not a courtroom, or at their rightful place snitching for the camp Gestapo.
