Security has been stepped up at religious sites to prevent possible incidents from taking place, Kosovo police spokesman Daut Hodza has said, adding that the measures are necessary in order to maintain a peaceful situation.

Hodza said that the Kosovo police was constantly engaged in the protection of cultural and religious heritage, Radio Television of Serbia reported electronic media in Pristina as saying.

“Some of the buildings are being protected 24 hours a day, seven days a week, while other are under the supervision of the Kosovo police as part of its regular operation,” said Hodza.
