From what I have heard in many muslim countries these days, married or not the woman are executed and the men are whipped.

Plus they're "honour kilings" if woman is seen even talking with a alien man; she ca be killed by any male member of her family/village/clan; technicly it's not sharia law but it's very common and and atleast tolerated custom in countries "blessed" by Islam.
