History and Community

Nearly all the Jews live in Gaborone. The largest segment of the community consists of Israelis working in industry, agriculture, and business. Occasional religious services are held on Friday nights. On high holidays, a rabbi is provided by the South African Jewish Board of Deputies, and services are conducted either at a private house or at a communal center. There is a Jewish cemetery.

Israel

Israel and Botswana renewed diplomatic relations in 1993. Israel is represented by its ambassador in Zimbabwe.
