What is a darween?
« on: July 05, 2019, 08:53:50 AM »
I always hear my wife yelling at the TV aizeh darween
I am too embarrassed  to ask her what it is.
Is it somebody who believes man came from apes or what?
For sure it is not loshon hakodesh because I'd be able to figure out what it is
In yeshiva they never taught us that word when we learned Hebrew & I passed the Hebrew regents.in yeshiva high school.

According to urbandictioanry, "Darween is a soldier, he's a wonderful Darween, he's tall, dark guy and AWESOME, he's loyal, -you'll be lucky to have a guy like him."

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=darween

If that doesn't help, just let her yell and don't ask questions if you want shalom bayit.
Gentiles are obligated to fulfill the Seven Noahide Commandments because they are the eternal command of God, transmitted through Moses our teacher in the Torah. The main and best book on details of Noahide observance is "The Divine Code" by Rabbi Moshe Weiner.

I think you mean "Daaween" (some may pronounce it with something that sounds like an 'r').
It means acting out and trying to impress.

It probably comes from Arabic but I don't know the original meaning. So while this is a slang word, it's not inherently a foul word.
