Trump brags about using ‘other people’s money’

trumpPresidential nominee Donald Trump on Tuesday bragged about using other people’s money.

“It’s called OPM. I do it all the time in business. It’s called other people’s money,” Trump said, according to CNN.

“There’s nothing like doing things with other people’s money because it takes the risk — you get a good chunk out of it and it takes the risk.”

The GOP nominee was talking about building safe zones in Syria financed by Gulf states.

His comments come after a report published Tuesday which says the Republican nominee used more than $250,000 from his charitable foundations to settle lawsuits involving his for-profit businesses.

The Washington Post report says this may have violated laws against “self-dealing.” The laws do not allow nonprofit leaders to use charity money for the benefit of themselves or their businesses, according to The Post.

The GOP nominee has in the past talked about using other people’s money for the country’s benefit. His comments Tuesday were not in reference to the Washington Post’s report, but the timing raised eyebrows.
