Trump’s longtime personal lawyer resigns from top post over Russia investigations

President Trump’s longtime personal lawyer, Marc Kasowitz, will no longer lead the legal team responding to the ongoing Russian investigations and has taken a reduced role, according to reports.

Ty Cobb will now take the lead in managing the team’s response to the ongoing federal probe into alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Kasowitz, who has worked with Trump since the early 2000s, had represented the president in the Trump University fraud case.

The news comes a day after Trump’s legal team spokesman, Mark Corallo, resigned.

Corallo had reportedly never met Trump or Kasowitz before taking the spokesman post and had been critical of the administration in the past.

The Post reported some lawyers representing the president are looking at ways to undermine special counsel Robert Mueller, who is spearheading the Russia probe.

Bloomberg first reported on Thursday Mueller was looking into Trump’s past business transactions as a part of the probe, despite Trump’s warning in a New York Times interview not to do so.

Kasowitz fell under scrutiny when ProPublica published several profane emails he sent to an individual telling him to stop defending the president.
