From the article:
"A Russian military expert, quoted by the agency, said that Iran plans to use the new aircraft as part of its defense of the Bushehr nuclear facility in the face of a possible attack. "
Our boys are going to have some fun shooting those J-10's out of the sky.
Our boys will get the job done, but it won't be fun.
It is good to be confident, but we don't want to be arrogant or under-estimate the enemy.
This plane was based on an Israeli design, and although it is almost certainly not as good as the F-15, and the pilots not as good as the IAF's, this mission will not be a walk in the park.
Remember, our guys will be flying almost 1,000 miles heavily weighted down with bombs...the fuel constraints will lead to a circumstance where any prolonged dog-fight means our boys can not make it home without refueling.
History should teach us not to underestimate the operational capabilities of our enemy or their equipment. Lebanon is a recent example. MiG jets in the Korean war is another.
Also, do not forget once Israel attacks Iran, there is an excellent chance that Israel will be hit with a retaliatory barrage of missiles.
Do not delude yourself, taking out Iran's nuclear capability is accomplishable but it won't be easy and it will not come without cost.
But what must be done, must be done. And the sooner it's done, the better.
