Which calendar for righteous Gentiles?
« on: November 03, 2007, 09:32:52 PM »
Which Calendar should be used by all peoples when they want to name a date so that everyone can understand. Certainly the Creation Calendar is not only Jewish, but it may be a bit complicated for many Gentiles.
The Gregorian Calendar is basically religious. Has anyone thought of a neutral way of counting time?
Normally I use the Gregorian for civil purposes, but add an aclaration "Gregorian Calendar" in my letters and papers.
When I write a letter, I usually write the date in two or theree calendars, so as not to give too much importance to the Gregorian one.
For example I write:
Today is Saturday November the 3rd, 2007 of the Gregorian Calendar, October 21st, 2760 of the foundation of Rome, Cheshvan the 22nd, 5768 of the Creation of the world
But why not adopting a neutral calendar once and for all, to be used for civil purposes?
