It should not be any surprise that a major colonial world power (Germany) with colonies in Africa would attract a certain number of volunteers. The first country in the world to have a social security system was Germany. The most advanced civilization prior to the advent of the Third Reich, in virtually every field of endeavor (science, physics, history, music, medicine, anthropology, industrial production, R&D) was Germany. Germany was where the latest advances were available to be learned by students from other countries whose families could afford the expense of studying there. The second largest political party were the Communists. What we today in the West are assaulted with (politicized homosexuality & lesbianism, child molestation, adult & child prostitution, narcotics and alcohol use, "free love ideology", obsession with each and every bizarre cult of metaphysics, the ecology movement, the physical fitness "work-out" craze, the International Left's propaganda campaign for "globalism & "free trade", etc....) all were firmly entrenched in the German society of the 1920's & 1930's.
The very few Negroes to visit or take residence in Germany were certainly not enough to prompt a "segregationist" movement there.
However, the increasing rate of both Jewish-German intermarriage and also voluntary conversion of Jews to Christianity most definitely provided a major concern to many Germans regarding preservation of their racial integrity & faith.
As Great Britain & France were both doing everything possible to destroy their German enemy; not the least of which was literally stealing her German Colonies established in Africa, while establishing their own empires worldwide (including the Middle East), it should surprise no student of history to learn that a great many of their colonial subjects who had grown up under a transplanted German culture, were quick to volunteer to help the European country towards which they felt a kinship against outside colonial powers which desired to be their new masters and oppressors. The arguments made by the Turks, Japanese, and Arabs, in which is claimed that their volunteering to serve the Reich was merely their siding not so much "with" Germany, but instead "against" the British Imperial behemoth, are arguments which indeed have a degree of merit. The Reich capitalized heavily on the exploitation of many groups by the British, French, & Belgians, by launching first-rate propoganda advertisements offering Arabs, Negroes, Serbs, Croats, Dutch, and others the "opportunity" to "serve in the SS" to "protect and save a united Europe".
In closing this response, let me say that at least one of the photos in the examples shown, appears to be a well-done forgery.
